OFCLEVELAND, onto.
Letters Patent No. 92,458, dated July 13, 1869.
IMPROVEMENT IN CHURNS.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and niaking part of the same.
To all whom 'it may concern Be it known that I, AUGUST KINDERMANN, of Cleveland, in the county of Cuyahoga, and State of Ohio, have invented a new and useful Improvement in a Ghurning-Machine; and I do hereby declare that the following is a. full and complete description of the construction and operation of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, making a part of this specification, in which- Figure l is a 'side view ofthe churning-machine.
Figure 2 is a top view of the same.
Figure 3 is an inner-side view of churning-tub with the ledges.
Figure 4 is the bottom of the churning-tub..
Figure 5 is'a side View of the twirling-stick, with transversal bars.
Figure 6 is a top view ofthe twirling-stick.
Like letters of reference refer to like parts in the views.
My invention relates to the inward construction and arrangement of a churning-machine, so that by means of the arrangement hereafter described, the milk is thrust against the ledges, and then back again, and through this violent motion a great amount ot' but-ter can be obtained from the same quantity of milk.
For a full and proper understanding ofthe construction of this churning-machine, and its operation, a description of the same is as follows, viz:
Fig. l, side view of churning-machine. a, wooden frame-work surrounding the churningtub. l
` b', churning-tub.
c, motion-wheel.
el', shaft, setting the wheel in motion.
c, twirling-stick.
e e, transversal bars of twirling-stck.
f, transversal bar of the outward frame-Woah, in which the tWirling-stick moves.
g, bottom of the churning-tub. h, perpendicular ledges inside the churn.
Fig. 2, top View of the churning-machine.
Fig. 3, inner-side view of the churning-machine,
with ledges.
Fig. 4, bottom of the churn. Fig. 5, side view of the twirling-stick, with transversal bars. V
Fig. 6, top view of the same. I construct the vertical dasher a, in the following manner: v
I provide the central shaft e with radial armse e, e e, and e e', the former two being connected bymeans of floats d, and the arms c e' being placed on the shaft in a position midway between arms e e, c e.
` The arme e and oats d, are provided with breakers b, which may be small bars, passed through them at right angles. y V
The shaft is caused to rotate by meaus'of the gearing shown.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
`1. The rotary dasher a, when constructed as described, with arms e, e, and c', and floats d, said arms e and floats being provided with breakers b, as and for the purpose set forth.
2. In combination with the dasher, constructed as described, the breakers l), arranged as described.
, AUG. KINDERMANN.
