TOY.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented March 12, 1907.
Application filed December 13,1906. Serial No. 847,678.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, EDGAR W. BRIMMER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Copemish, in the county of Manistee and State of Michigan, have invented a new and useful This invention relates to. mechanical toys, and consists in a construction for operating toy gymnasts or other similar figures.
In the accompanying drawing, Figurel is a perspective view of this device, and Fig. 2 is a longitudinal vertical central section of the base member with the upper parts broken away.
Referring to the drawings, the resilient ring or hoop 1 is supported upon a base member 2. Toy gymnasts 3 are supported within the hoop by strings 4, crossed in the usual manner, extending through the hands of the gymnasts, and fastened at diametrically opposite sides 5 of the hoop. Perpendicular to these strings a wire or tie member 6 extends centrally across the hoop, having its outer end 7 secured to the hoop and its inner end secured through ahole in the hoop and base member to a lever 9, housed in a slot 10 in said base member. The outer end 11 of said lever extends beyond the base and is adapted to be operated by hand, a downward pressure upon it producing a tensionupon the wire or tie member, drawing the outer side of the.
hoop inward, lengthening the diameter of the hoop along the lines of the strings sup porting the figures, thus producing a tension upon the strings and causing the toy figures to operate. As the pressure is removed from the lever the toy figures tend to return to their original positions.
What is claimed, and desired to be secured by Letters Patent, is
1. A mechanical toy comprising a resilient hoop, a toy figure supported diametrically thereof, and means for laterally compressing said hoop for the purpose set forth.
2. A mechanical toy comprising a resilient hoop, crossed strings extending diametrically thereof for supporting toy figures, and means for laterally compressing said hoop for the purpose set forth.
3. A mechanical toy comprising a resilient hoop, crossed toy-supporting strings extending diametrically thereof, a base member for said hoop, and means for laterally compressing said hoop comprising, a tie member socured at one end to the hoop and at the other to a lever connected to the base member.
4. A mechanical toy comprising a resilient hoop, a toy figure supported diametrically thereof, a base member forsaid hoop, a lever housed in said base member and having an end extending beyond said base, and a tie connection between said lever and the outer in the presence of two witnesses.
. EDGAR W. BRIMMER. Witnesses:
