ln the manul'avtiu'e oll tin and other simiz lar plate the blaeh plaies alter having been rolled are subjeeied to sullieient heat to anneal them, and lor this Apurpose they are placed in staeks ol a suitable number ol' plates, earh staek being rovered by an airtight box, so that the plates will be subjeeted to the desired heat without beeoming oxidized. By this arrangement it becomes much more easy to weld the parts l2 to t'ne upper edges ot the side walls 1i), and the exposed upper edges may be eaten away Very considerably without destroying the usefulness otl the box.
