IMPROVEMENT. IN-DEVICE FOR HOLDING- DOORS OPEN.

. Be it known that I, WILLIAM W. GREEN, Jr., of Janesville, in' the county of Rock, and State of \Viscousin, havevinvented a new and improved Device for Holding Doors Open and I do hereby decla-re that the following is a full, clear, 'and exact description thereof, which will enable those skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing,- forming part of this specication, in which tlegdrawiig represents a central transverse section of my invention, the object of which is to prevent the doorr the knob of the lock from marking the wall by striking against it when the door is swung open, and also to catch automatically, and hold the door open.
' It consists in the construction of a spring-catch, passing through a knob affixed to the washboard or surbase of a wall in any suitable position, and adapted to secure the knob to the wash-board, and to catch'into a socket-plate affixed to the bottom of the door, as will be hereinafter more fully described.
In the drawings- A is the knob, aixed to the surbase or washboard B by means of a screw-thread in the Ashank aof the kn'ob.
