To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, SAMUEL Miser, of the city of Newark, in the county of Essex, and State of New Jersey, have made certain Improvements in the Mannfeature of Horse-Shoes; and I do hereby declare the following to be-afnll and-exact description of the same, reference being had herein to the drawings that accompany this specification, as part of the same.

The nature of my improvement consists in a way of holding acalk to a shoe.

In the drawingsa Figure 1 is the shoe, with the calks attached, and

Upon the ealks, as shown by b, there is, on one side, a small rib, and upon the other side an indentation, c, and upon the sides of the sockets that are cast as part of the shoe, there are corresponding ribs and indenta tions, as seen in fig. 1, and in an end view of the. socket,

Through the sides of the socketa hole is bored across at the bottom, andineach calkis a corresponding groove, e.. The pin :1, passing through, holds the'calkinits place, keeping it from slipping out. A slight incline in the bottom of the socket presses the ribs against the grooves when the oalk is forced in.

What I claim as an improvement, and desire to secure, is-
