Figure 2 represents a side elevation of the same.
Similar letters of reference indicate like parts.
A represents the' bottom longitudinal rails, of which there may be, preferably, three, united transversely by the cross-pieces` B.
The rails A are provided'at each end with the blocks C, onthe upper face of which the transverse slats D are secured.
The springs E are secured to the slats A, by means of the blocks F, having grooved ends, around which the springs aresprung, and the slots a in their sides, into which the ends of the springs project in a straight line to about the centre of the said blocks. This arrangement admits of their being readily taken ofi when desired.
The upper ends of the springs are bent into the double-looped form shown in g. 2, for the purpose of uniting them with the slats G and the straps H. The
said straps are buckled or buttoned to the ends of the blocks C, after passing over the xed slats D, in a manner to be readily detached when desired.
In order to economze in the use of springs, We propose to suspend each alternate slat, G, at the ends,
Ifromthe straps H, by the metallic or other suitable loops I, and-provide them with one spring in the mid- The arrangement, herein described, of the longitu`' dinal slats A, blocks C, transverse slats B D G, doublelooped springs E,.grooved and slotted blocks F, metallic loops I, and straps H, as and for the purpose specified.
