The Schedule referred tb lin these Letten Patent and making part of the same.
To all whom 'Lt ma/y conce/m:
Beit known that I, JAMES B. STEvENsoN, of Bloomington, in the county of McLean,.in the Stai/e of Illinois,'have invented a new and improved Mode of Conveying the Waste Water from Pumps Used in Wells and Cisterns, Back to the Same; and 'I do hereby de'- clare that the following is a full and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon.
The nature of my invention consists in the combination of its several parts, attachedvto any pump-stock used in wells and cisterne, which can be used for conveying the warm Water in the pump-stock, when drawn up, back into the well, thereby saving all loss of water om the spout, and by use of which the platform over the wells, about the pumps, can be kept free om the drippings from the spouts.
A represents a funnel, attached to the conductor B. This conductor is connected by the hinge E to the pipe F, which passes through the platform beside the pumpstock H. The guide C, which serves to direct and limit the motion of the conductor B, andthe spring D, which presses the conductor outward, are attached to the pumpstock, as represented in the drawings. Its operation is simple. When Water is wanted from the well, the conductor is easily pressed back by the weight of the bucket, or other vessel used, which, by the action of the spring, immediately resumes its plaee, conveying all waste waterinto the well.
-It may be manufactured of Wood, metal, or other suitable material.
What I claim as my invention, and for which I desire Va patent, is a The combination ofthe tunnel, conductor, pipe, hinge, guilde, and spring, all arranged as described, and for the use specified.
