IMPRO'EMENT IN RAILROAD-SIGNAL BOX.
, The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the name.
To whom it may concern ,n
Beit known-that I, JOHN DURAND, of Cincinnati,
Hamilton county, and State of Ohio, have invented a certain new and useful Railroad-Signal Box; and do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, making part of this specification.
The object of this invention is to provide, for use of railroad-conductors, a convenientreceptacle for the customary signalling-apparatus, such as'iiags, torpe-I does, and the like.
Figure 1 is a perspective view of a box or receptacle embodying my invention.

The box A is formed, preferably, of sheet-iron or copper, or of stout tin, and has a hinged cover, B,
which is held to the closed position by hasp C, staple D, and pin E. 1
A handle, b, is attached to the top of the cover. Arranged closely to the front and to the rear of the box are pockets or lockers, F, to hold torpedoes, Gr.
The space H, in the middle of the box, between the two ranges of the pockets, is appropriated to the sig` Y nal-fiags I.
In order to enable the convenient'storage of the flags `within the box, -I form a hinged joint, k, in the handlel K, and provide a sleeve, L, and spring-catch, M, sim? ilar to the-device by which a parasol-handle is `made hand. 1
