, will ,admirabl it parted to the frame through the medium of .the'pinions 23 33 and their reepectivegears `12 and I3, as general in devices of this character. In the event of the cranks being accidentally or intentionall turned backward the sleeves 26 and 37 wil move inward upon their shafts in the direction indicated by the arrow in Fig. 5, thereby compressing the pressuresprings and throwing the cranks out vof engagement with the shafts, thus preventin accidental retrograde rotation of the niachlne or injur to the latter, which might result through t 1e intentional opposition of the strength .of one of the occupants of the ma Ashine against that of another.
It is to be observed that the device herein disclosed is .extremely strong and durable and that owing toithe rotary trarne being suspended from the bearing 8, which travels antifrictionally on the bearing 5, the movef ment of thevdevice will be free and easy.
FromI the foregoing it is apparent that I i produeea simple linexpensive device which erform vits functions to the attainment o e ends in view, it being un- :derstood that rniner changes in the details herein set forth may be resorted to without de arting from the spirit of the invention.
Iaving thus described the'invention, what I claim is- A inerry-go-round comprisin a shaft, a ball-bearing receptacle adjusta ly secured thereon, said receptacle being also provided with a surrounding rini-iange having perforations therein, gearings on the shaft arran ed one above the other, a sleeve with soc 'ets also arran ed on the shaft, beams se- 'reversel -ar-' cured to the soc ets havin ran ed hangers provided with earings t 1ere in,' race-rods secured respectively at their opposite ends to the perforations ofthe ian e and to the beams, and shafts rotatabIy mounted in the bearing of the hangers and having gears and operating means on their op osito ends, substantially as specified.
n testimony WhereofI affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
