BAGGING-MACHINE.

Be it known that I, WILLIAM F. L00 wool), a citizen of the United States, residing at Hollis, in county of Harmon and State of Oklahoma, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Bagging Machines, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to an improvement in a machine for cutting bagging, and particularly for cutting cloth or bagging into predetermined lengths for use in cotton presses and the like.
The invention consists of certain novel features of construction and combinations of parts which will be hereinafter described and pointed out in the claims.
In the accompanying drawings; Figure l is a view in front elevation of the machine; Fig. 2 is a view in side elevation; Fig. 3 is a vertical sectional view.
A, represents a base, and mounted thereon are standards B, B. One of the standards is made in two sections, which are hinged together at 2. The hinged portion 1, of the standard is adapted to be swung downward to permit a roll of cloth or bagging to be placed on the shaft 3, which is supported by one of the standards B and the hinged portion 1 of the other standard. The hinged portion 1 being provided with an opening through which an end of the shaft 3 is received.
Arms 4, 4 are formed on the standards, and journaled between the arms are rolls 5, 5 for feeding the cloth or bagging. A knife 6 is mounted at the ends of the arms 4 and over which the cloth or bagging is drawn as it leaves the rolls 5. The knife edge tapers from the center toward the ends, forming a surface for holding the cloth or bagging smooth during the cutting operation. Two cutting blades 7, 7 are pivotally mounted at the ends of the arms and are adapted to coact with the knife 6 in cutting the bagging. Links 8, 8 are connected to the free ends of the blades 7.

ally connected thereto. A lever to be operated by the foot, is pivotally mounted on a cross-bar 11 which extends between the standards B, and this foot lever 12 is pivotally connected to a link 13. The link 13 is connected to the lever 10. A spring 14 is connected to the lever 10 and upright 9 for normally holding the blades 7 above the knife 6.
When it is desired to cut the cloth or bagging the cloth is drawn over the knife 6 and the blades are caused to move toward the knife and produce a shearing cut, upon the operation of the foot-lever 12. These blades both travel close to the knife blade so that a close and even cut is produced.
Having fully described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. In a bagging cutting machine, the combination with uprights or standards having feed rolls connected thereto, of a knife supported by the standards having the cutting edge tapering from the center thereof, blades hinged to the standards and lying parallel with and in close proximity to the knife, and means for operating the blades for causing a cutting operation.
2. In a bagging cutting machine, the combination with standards having feed rolls connected thereto, of a knife supported by the standards having the cutting edge thereof tapering from the center toward the ends of the knife, blades pivotally connected to the standards and lying parallel and in close proximity to the knife, links connected to the blades, a rod connected to the links, an upright having a springcontrolled lever pivotally mounted thereon, said lever connected to the rod and normally holding the blades above the cutting edge of the knife, a foot lever supported by the standards, and a link connecting the foot lever and springcontrolled lever whereby the blades can be operated for producing a cutting operation.
