Description

PATENTED SEPT. 18,1906. at. L. UBELLAB.- ATTACHMENT FOR TOOTH BRUSHES,;&0J
APPLICATION FILED 001.228.1905. 7
nven'to'n 19i Hwooaa UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ATTACHMENT FOR TOOTH-BRUSHES, 800.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Sept. 18, 1906.
Application filed October 28, 1905- Serial No. 284,832.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JAMES L. UBELLAR, a citizen of the United States, residing at Kankakee, in the county of Kankakee and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Attachment for Tooth- Brushes, &c.; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in devices for supporting tooth-brushes, pencils, &c. and it consists of a resilient cap made, preferably, of rubber and adapted to be slipped over the end of a brush, handle and engage thesame with suflicient frictional force to retain the handle in place and provided with a flanged end extending about the periphery of the cap and in the provision of an eye whereby the device may be connected to a chain or other suitable supporting means.
My invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a view showing my device as applied to a tooth-brush. Fig. 2 is an enlarged detail view of the cap, and Fig. 3 is a vertical central sectional view.
Reference now being had to the details of the drawings by letter, A designates a cylindrical-outlined cap, preferably of rubber, having an annular flange A at one end, and B designates an eye or ring which is formed, preferably, integral with said cap and affording means wherebya chain D may be attached thereto to support the device.
In the application of my device it is proposed to slip the cap over the end of the handle of a tooth-brush, pencil, or other device desired to be supported, and owing to the frictional contact between the inner surface of the cap and the handle a simple and eflicient device is afforded for supporting the brush or pencil, as the case may be, and by the provision of the flange about the cap means is afforded for preventing the handle coming forcibly against the wall or other object against which the brush is to be supported.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
A device for supporting tooth-brushes, comprising a hollow cylindrical rubber cap designed to frictionally engage over the end of the handle of a brush, and provided with an annular flange extending beyond the circumference of the cap, and an eye at the closed end of said cap, as set forth.
In testimony whereof I hereunto afflx my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
JAMES L. UBELLAR.
