" Be it known that I, BUaronIS, BELn, a citizen of the United States,residing at Ree Heights, in the county of Hand and State of South Dakota, have invented .a new and useful Burglar-Alarm, of whichthe following is a specification.

This invention relates to burglar-alarms, and has'for its principal ob ect to prov de a device of very simple and compact construction which may be employed for the purpose of looking or holding a door in closed position and at t the event of an attempt to open the door. A further object of the invention is to provide a sectiona door-holder so arranged and are carried by one of the sections and electrical contacts are carried by both sections,-

so that when one of the sections is moved relative to the other the contacts will be engaged and the circuit closed and will remain closed until the device is readjusted, so that the alarm will sound continuously until the contacts-are manuallyseparated.

With these and other objects 'in view, as will more fully hereinafter ap 'ear, the invention consists in certain nove eatures of construction and arrangement of parts, hereinafter fully described, illustratedin the accom panying drawings, and particularly pointed out in the appended claims, it being understood that various changes in the form, proportions ,size, and minor details of the structure may be made without departing from the spirit or sacrificing any of the advantages of the invention.

In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view of a door-holding burglaralarm constructed in accordance with the inuse. Fig. 2 is a vertical section of the same on the line 2 2 of Fig. 1.

' The device comprises a door-holder formed slide on each other, one end of each strlp be ing provided with teeth or serrations 11 for e same time sounding an alarm in engagement, respectively, with the Fdoorand. the floor and the device being placed an ina clined position, --with the teeth partlyembedded in the door and floor, so that if an at tempt is made to open the door the teeth will be more firmly caught and the sections will slideone upon the'other. One of the sections carries bolts 12, on. which are clampingnuts 13, and the headed ends of the bolts extending through suitablegslots 14, formed in the other member, the nuts'being turned in gether, so thatthey may beheld in extended position, and when suflicientforce is applied the sections slide one on the other and remain in the position to which they are moved. One of said sections, the section 10 in the present instance, carries an electric bell or buzzer 15 and a small dry battery 16, one of the poles of the battery bein connected to the indingzipost 17 of the be 1, while the opposite bin mg-post 18 of the bell'carries a contact 19, that is disposed immediately above a contact 20, that projects from a small 0st 21 carried by the section 11 and exten ing.

This closes the bell-circuit, and the bell will sound continuously solong as the contacts remain in engagement with each other. It is intended that the parts shall remain in the position to which they are ad'usted, so that the bell will continue to soun until the device is removed from position and the sections extended;

The'device is of very simple, economical, and compact construction and'may be readily carried in a trunk or valise, if desired.
