,provide a combined coat and pant hanger and yet which may be separated and used independently, one for the purpose of hanging a coat and the other for hanging trousers.

The invention also consists in providing a means whereby the coat-hanger and hanger for trousers may be locked togetherwhen used as a combined coat-hanger.

The invention also consists in rovidi'ng a means whereby the trousers may be attached at the top and permitted to hang in a position which will prevent wrinkling or drawing of the trousers. I

The invention consists in other features disclosed in the following description, shown in the drawings, and set forth in the claims.

Referring to the drawings, Figure 1 illustrates a side view of my invention. Fig. 2 illustrates a sectional view taken along the line 2 2 indicated in Fig. 1. Fig. 3 illustrates a sectional view ta'kenalong the line 3 3',- also indicated in Fig. 1. Figs. 4 and 5 illustrate modifications of my invention. The remaining figures illustrate details of my invention and the modification thereof. Figs. 6 and 7 illustrate a reversible clip-and-eye device for securing the trousers to the hanger. Figs. 8 and 9 illustrate a means for supporting the top of the front of the trousers at different points of elevation, depending on the amount of curvature in the cut of the top of the trousers. Figs. 10 and 11 illustrate a modification which enables the user of my invention to vary the point of support of the front of the trousers. Figs. 12 and 13 illustrate a combination of a clip and an eye for supporting the front of the trousers.

Referring to Fig. 1, 1 indicates a supporting-frame, and also a form for supporting a coat and vest. The frame 1 is rounded at its top and has slanting sides 2 3. The slanting sides support coats of many different sizes without wrinkling the coats. The coat rests on the slanting sides and adapts itself to the frame whatever the size of the coat may be. The frame 1 is supported by a hook 4a, which is located in the top of the frame. The hook 4 is movable about its axis in the frame 1. The hook 4 extends down through the frame 1 and is bent in the form of a loop 5. The loop 5 is located a short distance-below the frame 1 and is adapted tolock the pant-hanger, which is located just below the coat hanger, to it. The pant-hanger 6' consists of a wire frame 7, which extends from one side of'the'coat-hanger to the other. At one end of the coat-hanger the frame 7' is provided with a curved portion 10, which is also inserted in an eye or staple 12. The

other end of the frame 7 is bent into the form of a hook 8, which is adapted to, be inserted into. the eye or staple 9. The center of the frame 7 is provided with a hook 14.

The upper part of the hook 14 is formed of a loop15. When the pant-hanger 6 is to be combined with the coat-hanger 1, therounded portion 10 is inserted in the eye 12 and raised and pushed in, so that the hookS can be inserted in the eye or staple 9, and at the same time the loop of the hook is passed over the loop 5. The hook 4 is then turned so'that the hook will be engaged with the hook located on the pant-hanger 6. At one end of the frame 7 is provided a clip device 16, whichis illustrated more in detail in Figs. 6 and 7. The clip device 16 is provided with smooth-edged flanges 18 19, which are adapted to engage the cloth of the trousers without tearing the same. The clip is supported and movable along and about the frame 7, the bar of thesaid frame passing through the axis, about which the sides 36 of the clip may be turned, and thus form a pivot for the said sides. The clip is provided with a spring 17, which is adapted to cause the lower end of the strips forming the sides of the clips to be pressed together and which cause the clip to grip the goods. In extensions of the upper ends of the sides of the cli device there are located eyes 20, in whicli may be inserted the buttons of the pantaloons. Either end of the clip device may then be used for supporting the pantaloons. The clip device may be slid along the frame to adjust the hanger to the width of the pantaloons. If the antaloons are of a greater width than the l ength of the frame of the pantaloonshanger, the back of the pantaloons may be folded in and gripped by the clip device. At the other end of the frame 7 and in ICC IIO

the bent portion 13 is located a pair of strips 21 22, (shown in Figs. 8 and 9,) which are hinged to the bar 7. The

strips

21 and 22 are each provided with a plurality of eyes 37 38, arranged one above the other. The buttons of the pantaloons are inserted in the eyes which correspond to the curvature or slant of the top of the pantaloons, which permitsthe pantaloons to hang in such a position that the cloth will not be drawn by its own weight.

In Fig. 4 I have illustrated a modification of the device for supporting the front part of the pantaloons at difierent elevations, depending upon the curvature. The form of the device shown in Fig. 4 is illustrated more in detail in Figs. l0 and 11. It consists of a strip 23, having rectangular-shaped notches 24 24. located along the said strip 23. The notches 24 24 are bounded on one side by the lugs. 25 25 and also portions 26. The notches 24 24 may be placed close together, and the adjustment of the hanger may be made to correspond more accurately with the curvature. A strip 27 is supported in the strip 23. The strip 27 is provided with eyes 28. The strip 27 is inserted in the notches 24 and is passed through the back art of the notch bounded by the right-angu ar portion 26 and is then drawn downward and to one side until the strip 27 is substantially in the center of the strip 23. The right-angular portion 26 prevents the strip from being accidentally pushed upward. In order that the strip 27 may be brought to the central part of the strip 23, the upper corner of the strip 27 is cut off at the point 29. This narrows the top of the strip 27, but permits it to pass vertically downward and avoid the lug 25. The strip 27 is moved over in the notch 24, and it then holds a central position relative to the strip 23.

-In the form of the invention illustrated in Figs. 12 and 13 I have shown another form of a combined eye and clip device. The clip device is shown supported on the frame 7 in Fig. 5. Thisform of clip device is also provided with a spring 30, and the sides of the clip device 31 32 are movable about the frame 7. The sides 31 32 are also provided with smooth-edged flanges 33 34, which are formed from portions of the metal being struck up. The sides 31 32 extend downward below the flanges 33 34. Eyes 35 35 are formed in the said extensions. When the pants are to be supported, they may be seized either by the clip device, or they may be supported by inserting the button of the pantaloons in the eyes 35 in the same manner that they are supported in the eyes of the device shown in Figs. 8 and 9.

What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is as follows:

1. In a combined coat and pantaloon hanger, a frame for supporting a coat, a hook movable in the said frame, a pant-hanger and means located on the said hook for locking the said frame for supporting the coat to the said pant-hanger, a means for supporting trousers.

2. In a combined coat and pantaloon hanger, a frame for supporting the coat and a frame for supporting the pantaloon, a hook connected to each of the said frames for suporting the same, means located on the frame for the said coat for locking the hook connected to the frame for supporting the pantaloon to the frame for supporting the coat.

3. In a combined coat and ant hanger a frame having slanting sides 'or supporting the coat, a frame having rounded portion at one end, a hook at the other end, a loop formed in the shape of a hook in the center,

eyelets for engaging the said rounded end and the said first-named hook and a rotatable loop located, on the first-named frame for engaging the loop located at the center of the second-named frame whereby the two frames may be locked together.
