Referring to the drawings, 1 designates the frame or table of a washbasin 2, which may be of the usual or any appropriate construction and material. Attached to the table 1 by means of a bolt 3 is a vertical upright or standard 4, provided at its upper end with a hollow tubular head 5 of circular form in cross-section, the head being pro vided in one wall with a bearing 13.
The numeral 6 denotes a drum having formed on one end an arm 7, provided at its outer free end with an eye 8, having a chain equipped at its lower end with a cake of soap.
Onewall of the head 5 is provided with a yoke 5, having a bearing 15 therein which alin'es with the bearing of the head. The drum is further provided with an integral spindle 14, which is mounted in the bearing A stoppin 5 is mounted in the spindle to permit of Fig. 2 is an the drum giving the circular portion of the arm a backward and forward or longitudinal movement in the head.
The numeral 9 denotes a spring coiled around the drum to rotatethe same and permit of the arm 7 having a vertical movement. Shoulders 10 and 11 are provided on the head 5 to regulate the upward and downward movement of the arm.
Having thus described the invention, what I claim is A soap-holder comprising a vertical upright having a tubular head at its upper end and provided with a ournal-bearing, a drum mounted in the head and having an arm therewith to swing in a vertical plane, a yoke on the head having a bearing coinciding with the bearing of the head, the drum being also provided'with a spindle rotatably mounted in the bearings of the head and yoke, a coiled spring around the drum within the head and attached at its ends to each, whereby the arm is normally held and automatically returned to its uppermost position, and at the same time a longitudinal pressure is exerted between the drum and the head tending to separate the same, shoulders on the head to regulate the upward and downward movement of said arm, a stop-pin mounted in the spindle between the two bearings to permit of the drum having a slight longitudinal movement within the head, substantially as specified.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
