ufacturing noodles and the like,'and its primary object is to provide a new and useful device of this character which is cheap of construction, easily manufactured, durable, and efficient. A
The invention consists in the construction, combination, and arrangement of parts, hereinafter fully described, claimed, and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein- Figure 1 is a perspective view of a machine constructed in accordance with my invention. Fig. 2 is a centralvertical sectional view thereof. Fi 3Aisa side elevation of the machine, the p unger or follower and the mechanism for operating the same being swung to one side to clear the cylinder. 4 is av sectional view on the line 4 4, Fig. 2.
Fig. 5 is a similar view on the line 5 5, Fig. 2 ,i
and Fig. 6 is a detail sectional view ofthe cylinder.
Referring to the drawings by referencenumerals, 1 designates an annular base provided with a central opening adapted to receive the lower end -of the cylinder 2, and at quarterly intervals around said opening and adjacent thereto are apertures for'the reception of the lower ends of rods 3'of the support 5, said rods 3 having their ends reduced and threaded, the lower of which are held in osition by ynuts 7 on the under side of the aselate 1, whilev the upper ends are fastene to the support 5 by screwingltherein.
' The support 5 is provided wit a central opening similar to and alining with the opening in the base-plate 1, adapted to receive the upper end'of the cylinder 2, and said support 5 has its inner edge countersunk to provide a shoulder 7', which serves as the hanging medium for the cylinder 2 by the flange S. The cylinder 2 has its lower end provided i with an inwardly-directedv flange 9, designed to loosely su port a l perforated disk 10. ylhus it may fie readily removed therefrom and permit the substitution of a disk-having larger or smaller perforations. The support 5 is provided with ears 11'and 12, the former of which acts as a hinge for the member-15 of Specification of Letpters Patent. Application filed December 31,1904. Serial No. 239,119.v
Patented Aug. 7, 1906.v
the press-frame, while the ear 12 is the locking means for the press-frame, for which purpose a lock-pin 17 is provided.
' The press-frame comprises two parallel cross-bars'14land 14 of unequal length, the upper being the shorter, ,connected by two bars 13, angularly disposed andk terminating in the hinging means and locking means of the press-frame in the manner above described.
Each of the cross-bars .1.4 and 14 is provided with two smooth-bore and one threadbore recess, the latter being positioned midway between the former or centrally disposed with relation to the cylinder.
The press-frame isadapted to support a plunger or follower and the means for olperating t e same in such manner that the p unger or follower may be moved vertically within the cylinder 2. and be swung to one side to clear the cylinder. Rods 18 are slidably mounted within the smooth-bore recesses and have secured to their lower ends a follower or plunger 19, and rigidly secured. to their upper ends is a plate 20., A screw-rod 2l, l0- cated between and parallel with the rods`18, is the pressing means for the plunger to which it is swiveled in orderto permit the screwrod 21 to be revolved to reciprocate the plunger or follower within the cylinder 2. The u per end of the screw-rod 21 rojects above t e plate'20 and has secured t ereto one end of a crank-handle 22, by means -of which the screw-rod 21 may be revolved.
The manner of operation of the device may be stated as follows: The machine is first placed in position over a-receptacle of water and then the press-frame is swung into the position shown in Fig. 3 to remove the plunger or follower 19 from the cylinder 2. In this osition of the plun er the' cylinder 2 may be supplied with the esired mixture and then the press-frame is swung into the position shown in Figs. 1 and 2 to position the IOO plunger or follower within the cylinder, the
frame being held in this position by means of ythe pin 1 7. By turning the crank-handle 2 2 the mix-ture within the cylinder is forced out through the apertures in the disk 10 `into the water in the receptacle. This o eration is continued until the mixture within the cylinder has been exhausted, land then the cylinder may be again supplied in the manner described. The size of the noodles may be IIO regulated by substituting for the disk 10 a disk having larger or' smaller perforation's.
Having thus described the invention, what I claim is- In a no0dle-'maehine, the combination of an annular base provided with a central opening, parallel rods rising vertically from said base and removably secured thereto, a support removably secured to the upper ends of said rods and provided with a central opening and having a shoulder countersunk therein, said support having alining ears, a
' cylinder having an upper outwardly-turned n frame comprising two angular and two parallel disposed bars designed to hinge to one I ear and be lookedby the other ear, guide and supporting rods slidably mounted on the pressirame and having their lower ends connected to the lunger, aplate secured tothe upper vends o ythe guide-rods, a screw-rod dlsposed between said guide-rods and engagin with the ressframe and swiveled to the p ate and p unger, and a crank-handle secured to said screw-rod.
In testimony whereof I aHiX my signature in presence of two witnesses.
