Be it known that I, WILLIAM S. STAPLEY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Bridgeport, county of Fairfield, State of Connecticut, have invented .a new and useful Canister-Top, jGase A,) of which the following is a specification.

illustrated in Figs. 4 and 5 this rib is formed at the edge of the capthat is, at the intersection of the sides and top-and is knurled for convenience in rotating the cap. In the, form illustrated in Figs. 1 and 2 this rib is not knurled; but the cap is extended above the end of the neck for purposes of ornament only and is provided at its outer end with a knurled rib 19 for convenience in rotating the cap. Near the lower end of the cap in both forms I provide a circular rib 20. In assemblin the cap is laced over the neck, after which the metal 0? the neck is spun-outward to form a rib 2]., which engages rib 20 and locks the cap in place upon the neck, the
engagement of rib 21 with the inner face of 5 rib 20 being loose enough to permit the cap to be turned easily. The engagement of lug 17 on the cap with groove 15 in the edge of the neck is also free enough to permit the cap to be turned easily, but not to move in either direction of its own weight. The locking of the cap in the closed position or in both the open and closed positions, if V referred, is ef fected by the engagement of ug 17 with the locking depressions at the ends of groove 15. 1o
