J. BAUMRUK. SCRUBBING BRUSH.
APPLICATION FILED 00T.17. 1903.

JOSEPH BAUMRUK, OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS.
ScRuBBlNG-Bnusl-l.
Specicationnf Letters Patent.
Patented July 31, 1906.
Application led October 17, 1908. Serial No. 177,481.
l To all whom 'it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOSEPH BAUMRUK, a resident4 of Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Im rovements inScrubbing- Brushes; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear,l and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it pertains to make and use the same.
The invention relates toscrubbing-brushes and has for its object to provide a simple, cheap, and eflicient means of simultaneously washing and brushing; and the invention consists in the constructionhereinafter described and pointed out.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a longitudinal section of the brush and connected hose, the latter being broken away. 2 is a similar View of a modification.
Fig. 3 is a sectional view of a detail, on an en-` larged scale; and Fig. 4 is, asimilar view on line 4 4 of Fig. 2 of a modified detail. F' 5 is a partial section on line 5 5 of Fi 2. 6 is a Elan view, on smaller sca e, of the brush s own in Fig. 1. p
Referring first to Fig. 1, numeral 1 indicates the face or brush portion of the article, and 2 its back, which has a downwardl -extending art 3, Ereferably int back an with t e hollow han e 4 and surrounding the bottom o ening of suitable size and sha e to receive t e snugly-fitting face part 1 o `the brush. At one en of the openmg is a ledge 4, over which an end of part 1 extends, belngtherebysupported. Thewhole of'part 1 fits mto the' opening, as shown, and 1s secured therein by tacks 4b.
5 denotes a flexible hose, and 6 is a coup ling whereby the hose can be operatively connected to the hollow handle to sup ly Water or other fluid to the chamber 7 of t e brushead In some cases the hollow will be filled with a filtering material 8 to arrest foreign particles and also to prevent too rapid flow of water thro h the perforated face. It is contemplatedvtat the back and face may in al wit the -tuft flare some cases be detachably connected to provide'for supplying fresh filtering material,
which may, if desired, be combined or minglad with a detergent, or for renewing the rush-tufts.
9 denotes brush-tufts, and .10 perforations in Ithe brush-face.
The brush-tufts are arranged about a short tube 1 1 and secured in the face by flaring the ends of the tube in manner to press thetuft material directly against the face, as indicated at 12.
In the modification shown in Fi 2 the handle 4 is shown integral with the ace part 1 and not with the brush-back 2*, the latter being separate and detachable. has a downwardly-extending part 3, similar to part 3 of Fig. 1. This part overlaps the edgie of part 1, as shown in Fi s. 2 and 5, an the securing-screws 13 exten through it and through the binding-strip 14 when such stri is used.
'lhe different parts of the device may be made of any suitable material and joined in any a proved manner, and the improvement ma life embodied in brushes of various sizes an designs suitable for washing, scrubbing, or cleansing any variety of articles or o jects.
The back 2 Having described my invention, what I claim as new, Patent, is
1. In a brush, a face rovided with tufts of brushn material, ans tubes one in each at its ends to hold the tuft in place.
2. In a brush, a series of tufts of brushing material, and tubesone in each tuft are at its ends, and means for supplying a fluid continuously to the tubes. A
In testimony whereof I have signed this specification in the presence of two subscribmg witnesses.
p JOSEPH BAUMRUK. Witnesses: i
