Be it known that I, VALENTIN SCHREGK, ofthe city of Philadelphia, and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a. new and improved ('Jombination Wash-Stand and Sick-Chair and I'do hereby'declare the'followl ing to be a full andexact description of the same, reference being had .to the accompanying drawings, andtc the gu'res and letters of reference marked thereon. v j f My invention consists in 'combining with a portable washstand,` f the usual construction, a convenient sick-chair, the latter being attached to the inside of the closet-door 'of the lower portion of the stand, in such a manner that the mere opening of this door places the seat in a convenient position for use', whiletheclosing of ,the door entirely removes the sick-chair from sight, and gives to the whole the appearance ot" an ordinary 1welsh-stand. 1

v The sick-chair is further so contrived and attached to theinsideiof the door that itpmay b'e readily removed from the latter and stored away separately,v when not required, inv order 'to mak-e thewhole closet-room in the `washestand available for ordinary uses.

Upon reference to these drawings, it will be seen that the wash-stand portion is of the usual construction, havingV a slab, A, at the top, a drawer, B, next beneatlnfand a roomy closet below, which is provided witha door, C. 'The whole stand may be made in the plainestzstylefor it may be of the most elaborate desigm The sick-chair consists mainly of atriangular box,"D, the long side of which is rounded in the shape of a sector of a circle', having itsl centre in the ax'is of the hinges on which the door, C, swings. This box has'a bottom, E, and lid,rF, the latter arranged to'ffsw'ing upward on hinges g g, for the purpose of placing within the box, or forremoving therefrom, any suitable receptacle, ofY porcelain or tin. One of the Hat sides of thejbox D is fitted to the inside of door C, and the boxmy be permanently'fastened to the door, or, in cases where itis desirable to remove the box'rentirely, it may have a fastening equivalent to the one represented in the drawing, consisting of a. pair of strong hooks, huh, in the side of box. D, and corresponding staples, ,7c c, in the door. Theouter end of the door hasafooting-picce, Z, which, resting upon the floor, acts as a front support for the weight of the occupant of the`chair, the back portion of the box Dhaving van additional'support upon the lower cross-piece, m, of the stand.

Having thus described the nature of my invention, I desireto'be understood as being` fully aware that socalled permanent washstands have-heretofore been ,provided with vater-closets.v Suchjarrangements are, however, not portable, but limited to localities where a flow of water under pressure is obtainable, and therefore they have nothingin common with my improvement.

What I claim as my invention,'and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

The described combination of' a sick-chair and portable wash-stand, when the parts composing the former are permanently or otherwise attached to a lswinging door, C, and otherwise arranged as and for the purpose specified.
