ITED STATES PATENT oFFIoE.
ADAM DENNIS, on FINDLAY, OHIO. ADJUSTABLE. WINDOW SHADE AND CURTAIN BRACKET.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, ADAM DENNIS, a citizen of the United States, residing at Findlay, in the county of Hancock and State of Ohio, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Adjustable Window Shade and Curtain Brackets, of which the following is a specification.
I My invention relates to improvements in window shade and curtain brackets; and the objects of the improvement are, first, to provide a bracket for supporting window-shades and Window-curtains inde' endent of each other; second, to provide t llis bracket with adjustable fixtures adapted to receive and sup ort window-shades of various widths wit out removing thebracket from the window-facing.
I attain theseobjects by the mechanism illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in
which Figure 1 is a pers ective of the left-hand bracket; Fig. 2, a si e view of same; Fig. 3,
bracket, and
justable slide 5 ,having a forked end adapted to fit in rectangulargroove 6 and be madefast by tightening the screw 7. 1
The reference-numeral 8 desi nates the back of the right-hand bracket, avin attached near its upper" endia horizonta ex tending arm 9, with a circular recess near its outer end adapted to support the end of a curtain-pole and a brace 10 supporting said arm; Near the lower end of said back 8 the right shade fixture 11, is attached at right angles to an adjustable slide 12, having a forked end adapted to fit in rectan ular groove 13 and to be made fast by tightemng the screw 14.,
In operation the brackets arefastened in Specification of Letters Patent.

position onthewindow-facing by means of screws 7 and 7*, Fig. 1, and 14: and 14, Fig. 3. By slightly'loosening the screws 7 and 14 the adjustable slides or supporting window-shades and windowcurtains independent of each other, that my may be moved in or out, as desired, for differentwidths of window-shades and made fast and held rigidly in position by .again tightening said screw.
device obviates the necessity of mutilating l the window-facing with nails and tacks and prying instruments. whenever occasion requires the removal of the shade or curtain fixtures, and that by means of the adjustable slides various widths of window-shades may be used without removing the fixtures from their original position. I
Having thus described my invention, I
1. The combination and arran ement of the parts constituting the adjustab e window shade and curtain bracket, and consisting of a back havin lower end, a orizontal extending arm near its upper end, a circular recess near the outer end and a brace supporting said arm, an adjustable slide havin one forked "end consisting of two rectangifiar tines adapted to engage with a clamping-screw in said rectanguar groove, and a shade-fixture attached at right angles to the other end of said adjustable slide, substantially as described and set forth.
2. In an adjustable window shade and ourtain bracket, the combination with a back havin a rectangular roove, of a horizontal exten ing arm with race-support and circular recess near its outer end, an adjustable slide having one forked end consisting of two rectangular tines, a clamping screw and washer engaging therewith in said rectangular groove, a shade-fixture attached at right an les to the other end of said adjustable slide, substantially as described and set forth.
