CARL M. TIGHENOR AND JAY SHOUP, OF CLYDE, OHIO.
WINDOVT-SHAIDE AND CURTAIN-POLE BRACKET.
Specification of Letters Iatent.
Patented Aug. 10, 1909.
Application filed November 2, 1908. Serial No. 460,731.
To all whom 'it may concern.-
Be it known that we, CARL M. TICHENOR and JAY SHoUP, citizens of the United States, and residents of Clyde, in the county of Sandusky and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Window-Shade and Curtain-Pole Brackets, of which the following is a specification.
Our invention relates to devices for supporting window-shade and curtain-pole brackets, and has for its object the provision of means for supporting the brackets without employing nails or screws to secure them in position.
To this end our invention consists of angle plates secured in position by a clamp consisting of rods secured together by a turnbuckle for adjusting the clamp to the width of the window casing, said plates being provided with beveled grooves to receive the bases of the brackets, which are secured in position by set-screws.
The details of our invention will be described hereinafter and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which-- Figure 1 is a view of a fragment of a window-casing with our improved device in position thereon; Fig. 2, a front view, on an enlarged scale, of one of the supports; and Fig. 3, a side view of the support and Fig. 4, a top edge view showing an end fragment of one of the clamping rods in position for insertion in the socket on the side of the support.
In the drawings similar reference characters indicate corresponding parts in all the views.
- A indicates the window-casing, in which is secured the improved supports, consisting of angle-plates 1, having on their front sides grooves 2, with beveled walls to receive the bases of the shade-brackets 3 and curtainpole supports 4. The plates 1 are secured in position by means of a clamp 5, consisting of rods 6, having their outer ends engaging sockets 7 in the sides of'said plates, while their other ends are formed with screwthreads 8 to receive the turn-buckle 9, the threads on one rod being right-handed and on the other left-handed, so that the clamp is lengthened by turning the turn-buckle in one direction and shortened by turning it in the opposite direction. The outer ends of rods 6 are provided with laterally, extending pins 10, that engage grooves 11 in sockets 7 to prevent them from turning in operating the turnbuckle.
12 indicates a pad of rubber, felt or other non-abrasive material secured in socket 13 on the inner side of plates 1 opposite sockets 7 to engage the window-casing and hold the plates in position without abusing the casing.
14 indicates screws to secure the brackets 3 and 4 from accidental displacement.
It will be understood that our improved device insures securing the supports, at any desired height, to the window-casing without marring it with nail or screw holes, and that it may be easily removed, replaced, and adjusted.
Having thus described our invention, what we' claim is 1. In combination with a window-casing, angle-plates, said angle-plates provided with sockets having grooved walls, window-shade and curtain pole brackets adjustably secured to said plates, and an expansible clamp extended across said window-casing and engaging said sockets, said clamp provided with pins engaging the' grooves in the sockets, substantially as shown and described.
2. In combination with a window-casing, angle plates provided with sockets having grooves, window shade and curtain pole brackets secured to said angle-plates, rods engaging said sockets and extending across the window-casing, said rods provided with pins engaging the grooves in the sockets and their adjacent ends threaded, and turnbuckles engaging said threaded ends, sub-- stantially as shown and described.
3. In combination with a window-casing, angle-plates having beveled grooves, curtainpole and window-shade brackets having beveled bases to engage said grooves, set-screws secured in said angle-plates and engaging said bases, said angle-plates provided with sockets having grooved walls, rods engaging said sockets and extending across the Win- 1 our hands in presence of two subscribing dow-caslng, said rods provlded with PlIlS wltnesses.
engaging the grooves in the sockets and CARL M. TICHEUOR. their adjacent ends threaded, and turn- JAY SHOUP.
5 buckles engaging'said threaded ends, sub- Vitnesses:
stantially as shown and described. HOMER Mn'rzmn,
In Witness whereof, We have hereunto set A. H. Hons.
