Be it known that I, JOHN A. LEFFERTS, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Elizabeth, in the county of Union and State of New Jersey, have invented anew and Improved Bath-Tub, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.

My invention relates to a novel construction of bath-tubs, and the principal purpose thereof is to provide means whereby they can be enameled in different colors upon their outside and inside surfaces. As at upon the outside present constructed it is necessary, if they are to be enameled all over by the dry process, to give bath-tubs the same color both and inside. This is due to certain peculiarities involved operation, into which it is not necessary to inquire at the present time. In order to provide for giving tubs two colors, both of them being applied by the ordinary process of enameling, I construct the tub intwo parts and enamel them separately bythe dry process.

Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, in which similar characters of refere ence indicate corresponding parts in all the figures.

The tub proper comprises a cast-iron shell (1, having a flange b and giving the same appearance as a tub constructed in the orinary way. This shell rests in a second cast-iron shell 0, which is of a somewhat similar shape and is d, on which the flange 6 is designed to rest and-which is concealed by the latter. It will'be seen that the outer shell constitutes a supportv which extends upwardly and permits the main shell a to be hung from its upper edges and freely suspended between them.

In the operation of enameling the inner shell is enameled in one operation and given any desired color, preferably a light one, while the outer shell is separately enameled with another color, preferably a dark one, and then the two shells are assembled to form the complete tub. This does away with the necessity of painting the outside of the tub, which is usually done in order to avoid giving the tub an entire coating of white enamel. and convenient way of improving the appearance of bath-tubs and is believed to be the only practical way in which the same result can be accomplished by the dry or sieving process of enameling.

Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent 1. A bath-tub composed of two east-metal shells, each enameled by the dry process and one mounted within the other.

2. A bath-tub comprising. a cast-metal outer shell, and a cast-metal inner shell removably supported in. the outer shell, each shell being enameled by the dry process, theouter shell being enameled on its outer surface in inner surface in a contrasting color.

3. A bath-tub comprising a cast-metal outer shell having an outwardly-extending marginal flange, and a cast-metal inner shell tub is provided with one color and the inner shell on the closely fitting the outer shell and having an outwardly-extending marginal flange fitting upon the flange of said outer shell, each shell being enameled by the dry process, the outer one on its outer surface and the inner one on its inner surface. A bath-tub comprising an outer shell having a straight marginal and apertured flange, an inner shell fittin within the outer I shell and. having a curve marginal flange provided'with apertured lugs resting upon the flange of the outer shell, and screws pass- 5 ing through the apertures of the flange of the outer shell into the apertures of said lugs.
