FOLDING DISPLAY BOX. "APPLICATION npn'n 4211.20.1905.
IINVENTOR v 'Zazrencell'. fade/kg ATTORNEYS f PATENTBD JUNE 1'9, 1906.
, STATES CLARENCE ISAQKE, or NEW-YORK, N.
" FOLDING, ISPLAY-Box.-
To all whom it may concern;
Be it known that I, cL RENeE E. ISACKlQ,
a subject of theKing of Great Britain, and a resident of the city ofNew York, (borough of Manhattan) in the county andState of New York, have ,invented a new and Improved Folding 'DisplayeBox, of which the following I I is afull, clear, and exactdescription, r
The invention relates to an advertising device,.-particularly to a device for advertising cigars, and it comprises a' peculiarly-cone" structed dummy box, which is formed of paper, cardboard, or equivalent material, and
arranged'so that it can be shipped flat, thus efiiectmggreat economy in space, so that when assembled intoproperform and ainted or covered with painted or printed s -eets it will closely resemble an open box containing cigars.
The advantage in thedevice lies in the fact.
that: it forms an extremely cheap substitute for the display-boxes commonly used by retail cigar-dealers. In the retail, cigar trade it'is customary to exhibit boxes of cigars in the show-windows. The cigars so exhibited soon spoiland if not entirely lost to the dealermust be sold at a considerable reduc tion. By-means' of my invention this loss is avoided andthe dealer is enabled at a much less expenditure to display any number of the dummy boxes.
I -Reference is had to the act ompany ing I so 'ence indicate like drawings, which illustrate, as an example,
the referred embodiment ofrmy inventlon,
in w ch drawings like characters of referparts inthe several views, andinwhich- Figure 1 is a perspective viewofthe device In use. Fig. 2 is a cross-section. F1 3 1s a a fragmentary section through one en of the box, and Fig. 4 is a view, of the blank from which the boxis formed.- 1
Y The, blank is-c'onstructed, integral sheet of cardboard, andit'com'prises a flap'a, forming the lid of the box'and a see;- tidn b, forming the top'wall directly cont1gui cue to the lid-flap or section a. ."At each endof the section b flaps d are formed, which eon-j stitute the ends of the box. On the slde of thesection b opposite thefla a a'section c is v 'fo the box, and eonti o us to this sectionis a section 0, forming t e bottom wall. The secknocked down or. laid butflat', saiddevice comprising walls formingzwhen' assembled a ed, which constitutes t 0 front wall of tion a has at its outer-edge a seetionf, formthe back wall of the box, and this section;

sented and where the top-wall or section b. of-
the boxis painted to represent a layer of ci gars. It will 'also\be"observed that the tongue g projects over-the top wall i) and serves the double-purpose of holding, the
parts together and of representing the paper flap commonly employed in'cigar -boxes,.this flap extending over the layer of cigars and bearing themakers name -ortrade-mark.- It will be seen that-this device can be shipped in flat form to the getailers,and since the cost is to advertise the'goods without Y very little large. numbers of them can beof my-invention,ywhat I claim as new and "desire to secure.byLetters Patent, is-- 1.
