HERMANN QUENSEL, OF LEIPSIC, GERMANY.
ALBUM FOR COLLECTING POST-CARDS.
Specification ,of Letters Patent.
- Patented June 12, 1906.
Application filed July 10, 1905. Serial No. 269,052.
. many, have invented a new and useful Improved Album for Collecting Post-Cards, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
The present invention relates to albums for collecting post-cards and other pictures, as also for exhibiting patterns and any other collections and it consists in arranging the leaves of the album in several tiers or layers which open up automatically when the book is opened, and thus exhibit two, three, or more tiers at one and the same time.
In order to render the present specification easily intelligible, reference is had to the accompanying drawings, in which similar letters of reference denote similar parts throughout the several views.
Figure 1 is an end view of the album, showing the cover opened and supported on a leg provided for the purpose. Fig. 2 is a front view of the same, and Fig. 3 shows an end view of the book with a second leaf in the act of being opened.
The album consists of the front cover C and the rear cover B, the latter being provided with a leg hinged thereto to support the cover in the open position, as shown at A in Figs. 1 and 3. Each leaf D is provided with two or more subleaves D D, which are hinged to the back of the next leaf D and supported at the proper distance from the next lying main or subleaf by means of stays s s, as will be readily understood.
F indicates the folds forming the back of the album. As will be readily understood from the foregoing description, when the cover is opened and supported on its leg A the leaf D (the first of which is usually attached to the cover) will be opened with it and the tiers or subleaves D and D will be opened up automatically, as shown in Figs. 1 and 3, and thus the contents of the album will be simultaneously exhibited in three tiers.
It will be obvious that any desired number of tiers may be arranged on each leaf.
I claim as my invention 1. An album, the leaves of which are provided with subleaves and means in connec tion with the same for automatically opening them up in tiers when the album is opened.
2. An album, the leaves of which are provided with subleaves, means for retaining the said subleaves a suitable distance apart and for opening them up in tiers when the album is opened substantially as described.
3. An album, the leaves of which are provided with subleaves, each subleaf being hinged to the back of the next following leaf and stays to retain the said leaf and subleaves a suitable distance apart.
4. An album, the leaves of which are provided with subleaves, means for opening up the said subleaves when the book is opened and a supporting-leg hinged to one cover of the said album.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
HERMANN QUENSEL.
