Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 82,1l7, dated September 15, 1868.
To all whom it may concer/n Be itknown that I, J oHN HEUEEMANN, of Davenport, in the county of Scott and State of Iowa, have invented a new and Improved Coupling 5 and I do hereby declare that the following is a true and exact description thereof.
The nature of my invention consists in the construction of a coupling, as shown on drawings, connected to and with iron tumbling rods or shafts, the coupling partat end of one tumbling rod or shaft being composed of an iron case, (cylinder in form,) inside of which, on opposite sides, are two slots, extending about two-thirds of the distance from bottom to top, or end of iron case, while at end of the other tumbling rod or shaft is connected a couplingjaw, through which passes an oval bolt, passing into and through a double cross-s0cket, (fitted between such coupling-jaw,) into which double cross-socket another oval bolt is permanently fixed, which enters the slots in iron case, connected with the other tumbler rod or shaft, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, making 'a part of this specification, in which- Figure 1 is a perspective View. Fig. 2 is a couplin g as is shown in drawings, and described in the specication.
