ARTICLE-HOLDING MEANS.

To all whom it may concern.-

. Be it known that I, DORA KING, a' citizen of the United States, residing at Tamaroa, in the county of Perry and I State of Illinois, have invented a new and useful Article-Holding Means, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to means for securing articles such as buttons, badges, hooks and eyes, and the like-to clothing or other analogous articles.

One of the principal objects is to provide sirn le means of a novel nature whereby articles' can be readily applied to and detached from clothing, said articles being securely held in place against accidental detachment,

the means being readily applicable for use with a variety of articles and being comparatively inexpensive to manufacture.

A single embodiment of the invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings,

In practice the article to be held is suitably? secured to the casing, and such article may be of any characterdesired, a badge 16 being shown in Fig. 1- merely as "an example. In

applying this badge to the clothing the stems 12 are drawn outwardly through the enlarged ortions of the keyhole-slots and until the enargements 15 are disposed outside the casing, whereupon said stems may be swung laterally, thereby locking the pins in projecting relation or in the positions shown in Fig. 1.

These pins are then passed through the cloth ing at the desired position, after which the stems are again swung to release the enlargements and are forced inwardly, said enlargements passing through the enlarged portions of the slots. This movementwill cause the pins to swing intoward the rear wall of the casing, thus clamping upon the cloth through which they have been passed. The right-hand pin in Fig. 3 is illustrated in its operative position. When the enlargements are again within the casing, thestems are permitted to swing laterally, so that the enlargements will now bear against the inner faces of the side walls, as shown in Fig. 4, and hold the said pins in operative relation.

It will be apparent that this structure can be manufactured at comparatively small .cost and aifords simple and convenient means forattachin articles ofclothing and the like, the means a so permitting the ready detachment of the same, but securely holding the articles in place against accidental displacement.

From the foregoing it is thought that the construction, operation, and many advan tages of the herein-described invention will be apparent to thoseskilled in the art withof the invention. 7

1. A11 article-hololing device comprising a support including a portion having a keyholeslot, a swinging pin, and a device for operating the pin, said device extending through the slot and having an enlargement that passes through the larger portion of the slot and is of too great size to pass through the smaller portion thereof.

2. An article-holdin device comprising a casing having a keyho e slot, a rock shaft j ournaled in the casing, a holding-pin carried by the shaft and projecting from the casing, a stem slidably passing through the keyholeslot and having a crank connection With the slot, and an enlargement on the pin arranged to pass through the larger portion of the keyhole slot and engage the inner and outer faces of the casing to hold the rock-shaft in different positions.
