' ilgc S'tlgrbult rrfcrrth tu in tlgtst laters iitentfmh uniting part f'tlge same.
TO ALL WHOM IT MAY COOERN:
Beit known that I, JOSEPH A. RAND, of Morrisville, Lamoille county, State of Vermont, have invented an Improved ClotheslDrying Pin; and I do hereby declare 'the-following to be an exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, and to thelettersof reference marked thereon, linking a part of this specification. y i
Figure represents a perspective view of' the pin when closed.
Figure 2 shows it as open. i
The nature of' my invention consists in the shupeand construction'of thelpin, having a square head, with two-thirds of a circular aperture'alnd a pivoted half of the pin', itheend of which forms the other thirdof the aperture, to fit the clothes on a clothes-line, andhold them to thcfclothesdine securely whilst drying,
l A and B represent the tivo partsof the pin; A having a. squere head, C, at the one end, and a circular groove, D, forming tivo-thirds of a round aperture. A ddubleheaded rivet,'E, passes through both divisions,
A and B, and theyoperate and turnen the r'ivet as 'a pivot. The one endxof the piece B is groove'd at J, so i as to form the one-third of the aperture D, and formia. perfect circular aperture when closed, (shown at: lig. 1;) and when the pin is to be fastened on the clothes-line-the pieces Aijnd V'B are turned-gud opened, as at fig. 2;
. and as the groove D"is attached to the clothes-line, the piece -B isfthen turned parallel with the piece A, and
the pin is then clfosed securely to the clothes on the liuc, holding the clothes fast until they are dried. I do not claim two siuiilar'pieees, with apertures ateach end, and pivoted'irr the centre; but' What I clai'm'as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is' A The arrangement and constrgction of the pieces A and B, with the square head C and its aperture D at one end, as herein described and for the purposes set forth.
