Be it known that I, JACOB P. WRIGHT, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Barberton, in the county of Summit and State of 0h10, have invented certain new and useful ImprovementsinGlnesApplyin Mechanism, of winch the following is a speci cation.

FE is a bracket, com rising a top, bottom, and side, eflixed to tlie frame of the box making machine. On the side of this bracket is s bearin for a horizontal shaft H, which carries a gne-applyin wheel of novel construction, above and adjacent to which wheel extends the strip or blank of paper or the like to which the glue is to be progressively applied. The shaft .H2 is provided with a gearwheel W3, which meshes with and is actuated by the drivinggearin of the box-machine in a manner to revolve t e lne-wheel at a prescribed rate of speed. he iiglne-wheehcom prises an annular portion I2 and several ef uidistant portions K2, having the same ra ius as the portion I2 and extending parallel with the axis of the wheel. The portions Kz constitute the outer or peripheral faces of arms which extend from the wheel-hub in directions that incline from; lines radial to the wheel, the inrlinntion being rearward and outward with reference to the direction 'of rotation of the wheel. 'lho lower portieri of the gluewheel revolves ivithin a gine-pot L, which rests upon a heater M2, secured to the bottoni of the bracket. As a result of the inclination ofthe pot land its su port the pot can Vreadily be slid into or Withdrawn from position beneath the glue-Wheel without the otherwise necessity of removing or shifting adjacent parts notwithstandin the fact that the glue-wheel projects down into the pot. Obviously, if the heater were disposed horizontally the lue-pot could not be removed ress the heater were also ren1oved,which operation would require, as heretofore, a ilexible pipe connection for the heater, together with special' devices for raising and lowering the heater. Just above the glue-pot the gluewheel is engaged by an adjustable scraper N that is designed to remove surplus glue therefrom.
The above-described inclination of the glue-wheel'arms, which carry the glue-applying portions K, prevents such arms lifting glue as they emerge from the pot, for the reason that the angle at which the forward sides of said arms stand on emerging from the pot is such that glue readily passes down oil the same.
Above the glue-wheel is a roller R2, between which and the glue-wheel thepe )er asses, the apex' being guided by a sultahxfsisposed ro ler C', mounted on a shaft i supported by the bracket.
