UNITED STATES ERIK L. KRAC r, OF CHIQAGO, lLLlNQlS, ASSlGNOR TO KRAG PATENT (EFFECE.
illlPEltlAL To 1117/ whom, 2125 may concern:
Be it known that I, Emir L. KRAo, a citizen of the United States, residing at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful improvements in Cabinets, of which the following is a specification. I I
One of the objects of this invention is the production of a light, strong, and rigid cabi net of simple construction.
A further object of the invention is the production of a cabinet embodying the improvements in details set forth hereinafter.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a horizontal section through this improved cabinet on dotted line 1 1. of Fig. 2. Fig. 2 is a vertical section through. said cabinet on dotted line 2 of Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is a transverse vertical section on dotted lire 3 3 of Fig. 2. Fig. 4 is a section on dotted line 4 4 of Fig. 1, showing on an enlarged scale one of the vertical rods of the cabinet. Fig. 5 is a perspective view illustrating one of the sectional partitions.
1n the construction of this cabinet I provide a rectangular base A, of angleiron, having front and back bars A and A and end bars A and A which front and back bars are provided in the horizontally extending flange of the angle-iron with the openings A Side walls .8 and the back wall are secured in any suitable manner to the base A, as by rivets passing through the lower edges of said side and back walls, and the vertical llangcs oi the end and rear bars A, A, and A oi the base A.
A bottom plate D is adapted the base A within the inclosure formed by the side walls B and rear wall C, and this bottom plate is provided with holes l), coinciding with the openings A in the front and. back bars A and A of the base. The bot tom plate D may have an integral apron D to cover the front bar A of thebase A. Rods E are adapted to extend through the openings A" and D, which rods are provided with the heads E, lying below the horizontal flange of the front and rear bars A and A and at their upper ends are scre -threaded to receive nuts Sectional-partitions F, having integral end sleeves F, are formed of sheet metal, said sleeves F niit them to he lipped over the verticalrods E.
to lie upon Specification of Letters Patent.- Applioation filed January 31, 1903. Renewed June 21, 1905. Serial No.
being of a size just sull'icient to per- Patented Jan. 23, 1906.
Shelves G, having a length equal to the space between the side walls B and a width equal to that of the bottom plate D, are provided, each of these shelves having downturned integral flanges G and G at its ends and rear edge, respectively, and a finishingroll G at its forward edge. The shelves are also provided with openings G correspondbottom plate D.
In assembling this cabinet the bottom plate D is laid upon the base A and the headcd rods E passed. through the coinciding o enings A and D of the base and bottom p ate, respectively. A sectional partition F:
as next placed between each pair of the rods E and a shell G put in position upon said partitions. A second transverse series of partitions is next put in lace and then another shelf, and so on until the proper number of shelves is had. The shelves and partitions are now clamped together by means of the nuts E, which are placed upon the threaded upper ends of the rods E and screwed down against the top shelf G. End walls 8 and a rear wall'C are next secured to the base A by rivets or in any other suitable inannerand the shelves G secured to said end walls and rear wall also in any suitable manner, as by rivets passing through the flanges G and G of said shelves and through the end walls B and the rear wall C.
.1 am aware that various changes may be made in the construction herein shown without departing from the spirit and scope of my invention, wherefore I desire not to limit myself to the precise details herein set forth.
I claim as my invention 1. in a cabinet, in combination, a base; rods extending upwardly therefrom; a plurality of shelves; and a series of partitions adapted to be strung upon saidrods and to be interposed between said shelves.
rods extending upwardly therefrom; a bottom plate having openings coinciding with said rods a series of shelves also having openings coinciding with said rods and partitions adapted to be strung upon said rods and to be interposed between said shelves.
8. In a cabinet, in combination, a base; rods extending upwardly therefrom; a bottom plate having openings coinciding with said rode, a series of shelves also having opening in position with the openings D" of the 2. In a cabinet in combination a base 7 7 ings coinciding with said rods; partitions adapted to be strung upon said rods and to be interposed between said shelves; and means for holding said shelves and partitions upon said rods.
4. In a cabinet, in combination, a base having a back bar, a front bar and end bars;
rods extending throu h said back bar and' said front bar; end walls and a back wall for said cabinet a bottom plate having openings coinciding with said rods; a series of shelves also havin openings coinciding with the rods partitions having integral sleeves ad ap ted to receive said rods, said partitions being placed between adjacent shelves to space saidshelves upon said rods; and means on the rods for clamping the shelves, partitions and base together.
5. In a cabinet, in combination, a base;- rods extending upwardly therefrom; end
walls and a back wall; a plurality of shelves on said rods, said shelves being provided with flanges at their ends and rear edges, which ',base together.
front bar, end walls and a back wall; a bottom plate having openingls coinciding with said rods; a plurality of s elves also havin openings coinciding with the rods, sai
shelves being provided with flanges at their flanges are se-' ends and rear edges, which cured to said end walls and back wall; partitions interposed between adjacent shelves, said partitions having integral sleeves adapted to receive said rods; and means on the rods for clamping the shelves, partitions and 4 ERIKL.
