UNITED STATES PATENT @FFTGE.
HENRY FRANCIS KEIL, OF BRONXVILLE, NEW YORK.
CASING FOR WHEELS, &o., AND TRACK THEREFpR.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Jan. 9, 1906.
Application filed May 27, 1904:. Serial No. 210,142.
To aZZ whom it may concern:
Be it known that 1, HENRY FRANCIS KnrL, a citizen of the United States of America, and a resident of Bronxville, in the county of Westchester and State of New York, have invented a certain new and useful Casing for WVheels, &c., and a Track or Way Therefor, of which the following is a specification, the same being a full, clear, and exact description of the in vention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
My invention relates to devices, as doorhangers, &c., designed for use primarily for carrying sliding doors, and particularly to casings, as sheave-casings, containing wheels or ball-bearings and provided with clamping means constructed and arranged to work on a way, as a track, cable, &c., and to be engaged with the same sidewise by snapping or otherwise interlocking the two together, the
said casing also having means serving as a gage when driving the same into the wood and also having spurs or locking means to prevent the accidental displacement or withdrawal of the same when once placed in position; and it has for its object the provision of an apparatus of the kind set forth, simple in construction, inexpensive to manufacture, and which operates smoothly and efiiciently in practical use.
WVith this object in view the invention consists in certain novel features of construction, combination, and arrangement of parts, all of which will be hereinafter described, and specifically pointed out in the drawings which accompanying and form a part of this specification, in which Figures 1 and 2 are respectively side and end views of a sheave and casing therefor in which my invention is embodied. Fig. 3 is a viewtaken in section on the line 5 5, Fig. 1; and Figs. 1 and 5 are end views of other sheaves constructed and arranged according to my invention.
Like letters of reference indicate like parts in all the views.
In the preferred form of sheave-casing shown in Figs. 1 to 5, inclusive, the closed casing K is made in box-form and has integral guides or gage-plates k and depending lips 73, in which are formed slots is. The casing K in this instance may be made in two parts, in the meeting edges of the ends of which two parts is formed a stop or dovetailed joint in, which stops, in connection with the center bearings formed by concaving the central portions of the two sides of the casing, serve as supportingpoints for the sheave-wheel K.
The downward ly-projecting spurs or prongs k in connection with the practically horizontal gage plates or guides k serve to securely hold the sheave-casing from inward or outward or lateral movement when the same is once adjusted in position, while the two preferably spring-depending lips or flanges H, which are ordinarily constructed so as to be yielding in action, pass over the upper part or head of the track or way is and become engaged in an interlocking relation with the sides thereof and also preferably with the under edges or convex portions of the same in order that the sheave may not jump the said track or Way.
I do not make any claim in this application for the depending spring lips or flanges shown and described herein, as the same are claimed in my copending application, Serial No. 210,143, filed May 27, 1904.
As it is evident that many changes in the construction, form, proportion, and relative arrangement of parts might be resorted to without departing from the spirit and scope of my invention, 1 would have it understood that I do not restrict myself to the particular construction and arrangement of parts shown and described, but that such changes and equivalents may be substituted therefor.
hat I claim as my invention is A sheave-casing K formed in two parts, in the meeting edges of the ends of which parts is formed a stop or dovetailed joint k, and in the sides of which are formed integral bearingsin for a sheave-wheel made by respectively indenting or concaving the central portions of the said two sides, on. the side faces of which casing are also formed a plurality of integral extensions, some of the extensions in projecting outwardly, and some of the said extensions projecting laterally to constitnte York, county and State of New York, this 4th practically horizontal gage-plates 0r guides day of May, 1904.
A and other of the extensions 75 being made in depending form, in combination with a HENRY FRANCIS KEIL' 5 sheave-wheel and a track or Way. Witnesses:
In testimony of the foregoing specification F. A. WURZBAOH, I do hereby sign the same in the city of New H. BAMMAN'N.
