which the following is a specification.

The object of this invention is to provide a urinal so formed as to prevent spilling of the contents, more especially when the article is in use. The device is also made to fit snug between the thighs of the user or patient, so as to be securely held and be readily brought into position for effective use or so as to avoid any backflow orsoiling.

This invention is set forth in the following specification and claims and illustrated in the annexed drawings, in which Figure l is a side elevation of a urinal embodying this invention. Fig. 2 is a sectional side elevation of Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is a plan view of Fig. 1. Fig. 4 shows the urinal in horizontal position or nearly the position it occupies when in use. Fig. 5 shows the article applied to use. Fig. 6 shows a vessel with cover.

In the drawings the urinal is shown with a belly portion a. This belly or under portion is of such depth as to prevent spilling of the contents when the article is in use. The faces a at each side of the belly are somewhat flattened or of a less pronounced curvature than the belly. These faces fit snug between the thighs of the user or patient and allow the belly part to sink into the depression in the bed caused by the weight of the patient or the pressure of the buttocks on the bed. The article so constructed can also be brought close up to the person of the user so as to be in position for securely receiving its contents or avoid spilling and at the same time not press upon or hurt any sensitive part of the person. The interior being made with rounded corners or edges or sharp angles being avoided, such article can be easily cleaned.

When not in use, the article can be readily stood upright on its foot or bottom a. as seen in Fig. 2.

The handle can, if seen fit, be left off without departing from the invention or from the practicability of the invention.

A stopper or cover can be provided, as seen in Fig. 6.

It will be seen that the bottom of the urinal is substantially at right angles to its longitudinal axis, so that when the urinal stands on its bottom it will be substantially upright. The sides of the urinal-body are approximately in parallelism with said axis, by reason of which the receptacle can be placed well between the thighs without discomfort to the patient. The bellied portion of the body of the urinal is curved and slopes at its upper portion rearwardly toward the neck of said urinal to thereby lie comfortablyin the crotch between the limbs and with said neck in position for use. Constructed substantially as described there is no possibility of the urinal being spilled of its contents while in use nor of its being tipped over, as are the cases with urinals of the ordinary kind.

What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
