I ULYSSES GRANT MOQUEEN, OF NEW YORK, N. Y. ADJUSTABLE FINISH. FACE-PLATE FOR'SASH-PULLEYS.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Sept. 26, 1905.
Application filed February 19, 1904. Serial No. 194,459-
To all whom it concern.-
Be it known that I, ULYssns GRANT Mo- QUEEN, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of New York city, borough of Manhattan, in the county and State of New York, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Finish Face-Plates for Sash- ,Pulleys, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to finish face-plates for sash-pulleys; and, it consists of certain parts and combinations of parts particularly pointed out in the claim concluding this specification.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 illustrates a housing for a pulley having my invention applied and in use. Fig. 2 is a perspective view of a window-pulley bracket or housing with the finish face-plate applied.
Fig. 3 is a perspective View of the finish face-.
plate. 7
The following is a description of the finish face-plate as shown in the accompanying drawings, which illustrate'the form in which I at present prefer to embody my invention; but it will be'understood that various modifications and changes may be made in the details of the same without departing from the spirit of my invention and without exceeding the scope of the concluding claim.
a represents a window-pulley bracket or housing havin shoulders m m and a base 01 provided with a face 0?.
b is a pulley having journals 0.
e is the jamb of the window-frame; f, thev lintel thereof having a slot g therein to permit the insertion of the housing or bracket.
The base 03 has an opening it for the passage of the sash-cord or other suitable support '5. which at one end is suitably secured to the lower sash and at the other end has attache thereto the weight I: is a finish face-plate and is made of any appropriate material, preferably a polishable metal. This plate at one end is adapted by means of the openingl and screw m to be secured to the base-plate d and the lintel f of the window-frame and preferaby conforms in shape to the base-plate d. It is cut away at n to permit the passage of the cord therethrough and through the opening it. At this end it is provided with the lugs 0 0', which conform to the shape of the bracket at this point and rest squarely upon the top of the jamb e and beneath the journal 0 of thepulley, being thus held in place by the load borne by the pulley- It will be seen that with my invention a finish face-plate may be attached or detached to or from the pulley-bracket at any time after said bracket is placed in a window-frame.
.By slightly lifting the pulley-bracket from its seat on the jamb. and withdrawing the screw m the lugs o and 0 may be inserted between the top of the jamb and the bracket. The screw m may then be inserted in the hole Z of the face-plate which corresponds with a hole in the base-plate (Z, and may be thus secured to the lintel. The pulley-bracket may then settle back into its seat'on the jamb and on lugs 0 0, and the weight borne by the pulley scribing witnesses.
ULYSSES GRANT MCQUEEN.
