Description

No. 799,092. PATENTED SEPT. 12, 1905. M. C. ROS ENPBLD. SUPPORTING BRACKET FOR- PIPES.
APPLIGATION FILED MAY 23, 1904.
'wvc n Tot UNITED STATES MORTIMER O. ROSENFELD, OF BUFFALO, NEW YORK.
PATENT OFFICE.
SUPPORTING-BRACKET FOR PIPES.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Sept. 12, 1905 Application filed May 23, 1904. Serial No. 209.358-
Be it known that I, MORTIMER O. RosuN- FELD, a citizen of the United States, residing at Buffalo, in the county of Erie and State of New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in Supporting-Brackets forPipes, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a bracket for supporting pipes arranged in tiers or rows, and has for its object to provide a bracket having a plurality of supporting members and so constructed that it may be readily divided or cut off to shorten it to use one or any desired number of the supports to suit the number of pipes to be supported.
A further object is to provide a pipebracket which is simple of construction, efficient in use, and comparatively inexpensive of manufacture.
in the accompanying drawings, Figure l is a perspective view of a pipe supporting bracket constructed in accordance with my invention, and Fig. 2 is a longitudinal section of the same.
Referring to the drawings, 1 represents a bracket comprising a longitudinal strip or plate of metal divided by transverse grooves 2 into a plurality of hanger-sections 3, each of which is provided with holes 4 for the passage of screws to secure it to a wall-beam or other supporting-surface. Each section of the plate is further provided with a supporting-hook 5. This hook is secured in position by bending one end thereof to form a tang 6, which passes through the transverse slot '7 in the plate and is bent or clenched against the rear side thereof, as shown in Fig. 2. This construction permits the bracket to be cheaply manufactured, and by the use of the grooves 2 the sections 3 may be easily divided, each groove weakening the plate between each two adjacent sections and forming a guide and retainer for the edge of a cutting-tool, such as a chisel, whereby the sections may be readily cut apart. By this means the hanger may be shortened to the number of supporting-sections desired, according to the number of pipes which are to be supported.
The device is advantageous in that it may be cheaply manufactured and permits of the use of one or more sections as occasion demands.
From the foregoing description, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, the construction and operation of the invention will be readily understood without requiring a more extended explanation.
Various changes in the form, proportion, and the minor details of construction may be resorted to without departing from the principle or sacrificing any of the advantages of this invention.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The herein-described supporting-bracket, consisting of a flat plate, composed of a plurality of sections, each section having screwholes therein to provide for independent attachment to a surface, each of said sections having a slot near its upper end and said plate having a series of grooves extending transversely across the plate to weaken the same in alinenient with said grooves and serving as guides and as retainers for the cutting-tool whereby the sections may be conveniently severed, and a hook provided with a tang secured to each section, said tang passing through the slot and being bent against the rear side of the plate, substantially as described.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
