IMPROVEMENT IN HARRows.

Specification formingpart of Letters Patent No. 79,042, dated June 16, 1868.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, F. R. WILLsoN, of Columbus, Franklin county, Ohio, have in ven ted certain new and useful Improvementsin Harrows; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 represents a plan view, and Fig. 2 represents a side view.

Like letters indicate like parts` In the annexed drawings, A A represent two bars that are pivoted together at their front ends.

B B. represent similar bars that are pivoted together at their front ends, and are arranged between the bars A A, and, being about of the same length of said bars, extend slightly to the rear thereof. The bars B B are each providedwith a perforated metal plate at their rear'ends, by which means they are connected together to operate at a suitable distance from each other. These plates are shown at D D in Fig. l, andare connected by a bolt or pin, h.

Arranged on the under sides of the bars A and B are a series of grooved blocks, K K K.

These blocks are pivoted at both ends to the rails A and B, respectively. The block at the forward part of the harrow, where the bars come together, is placed horizontally, so that the railsA A are pivoted to its frontand the rails B B are pivoted to its rear end. The remaining blocks K K are placed diagonally inward from the rails A to the rails B. Within plate, C, which is divided in the center, and

.the front bent outward and the rear part bent inward, as shown. VThese plates are formed as described for harrow-teeth, and when .ar--

ranged'with the frame specified form a. series of teeth that will etfectually cut and break the clods, Src.

This device can readily be adjusted for operating in contracted or an enlarged manner, and can be changed so that the rails A and B may lie together at one side. The teeth can be readily removed from the grooved blocks whenever desired.

Thedevie herein described is intended as an improvement upon my patent of September 24, 1867.

Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-4 Y The arrangement of the outer rails, A. A, and inner rails, B B, and the grooved teeth-holding blocks K K, pivoted in the manner described, and the perforated bars D D, when the several parts are constructed and operating substantially as specified.
