FIG. I-

PATENT OFFICE.
GEORGE H. BELL, OF BROOKLYN, NEW YORK, ASSIGNOR TO HATTIE L. BELL, OF BROOKLYN, NEIV YORK.
VAPORIZER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 785,692, dated March 21, 1905.
Application filed May 7, 1903. Serial No. 156,084.
To all w/wm it may concern:
Be it known that I, GEORGE H. BELL, a citizen of the United States, residing at the city of New York, borough of Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Vaporizers; and Ido hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to Vaporizers for volatile medicaments;- and it consists in the novel construction and combination of the parts hereinafter fully described and claimed.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is a plan view of the vaporizer. Fig. 2 is a vertical section taken on the line 0 a in Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is adetail plan view of the medicament-holder.
A is a cylindrical boiler having an outwardly-projecting flange 7) at its top edge.
B is the cover for the boiler, having an outwardly-projecting peripheral flange 0, which incloses the flange Z) and which is pressed into steam-tight contact with it. These flanges form the means for supporting the boiler over any suitable lamp or burner. The cover B has a nozzle 0, which has screw-threads (Z pressed into its periphery, and the said nozzle has an inwardly-projecting flangee at its top.
F is a cup for the medicament, having perforations f in its lower part and having an outwardly-projecting flange 9 around its top, which rests on the said flange 0, so that the cup is supported inside the nozzle and may easily be removed from it.
Or is a cap which is screwed over the nozzle and which has a conical outlet-tube 2', which projects upwardly from its top in an inclined position.
The volatile medicament is placed on absorbent material It in the cup, the boiler being partially filled with water or other liquid. When the water is converted into steam, it
passes out by the outlet-tube, carrying with it portions of the medicament. The shape and arrangement of the outlet-tube adapt it to apply a jet of medicated steam to any part of the human body desired.
The boiler A constitutes the generator for steam, which has a screw-threaded neck O, and the cup F constitutes a perforated diaphragm which is arranged between the generator-bod y and its outlet. The screw-threaded cover or cap G has an elongated opening in its top, as shown, which corresponds with the elongated or oblong inlet-opening of the outlet tube or nozzle 2". The outlet-nozzle is securely connected to the cover G, and it tapers gradually from its inlet to its outlet, which forms a fine discharge-openi ng.
What I claim is- 1. In a vaporizer, the combination, with a boiler provided with a steam-tight cover which has a screw-threaded nozzle and an inwardlyprojecting flange at the top of the nozzle; of a perforated cup for medicament having an outwardly-projecting flange at its top which rests on the aforesaid flange, and a screwthreaded cap which engages with the said nozzle and which is provided with an outlet-tube.
2. In a vaporizer, the combination, with a boiler provided with a steam-tight cover which has a screw-threaded nozzle and an inwardlyprojecting flange at the top of the nozzle; of a perforated cup for medicament having an outwardly-projecting flange at its top which rests on the aforesaid flange, and a screwthreaded cap which engages with the said nozzle and which is provided with a conical outlet-tube which projects from its top in an upwardly-inclined position.
