IMPROVED CART-BODY.
flilgt Est-211th rtnmt it it illttt new @irtut mm muting gm at ilgt nun,
TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
Be it knownthat I, WESLEY BRADLEY, of Vienna, county of Kennebec, and SteteofhIa-ine, have invented a new and useful Improvement inCart-Bodies; anclI do herebydecla-re that the following is at full endexactdescription of the some, referencebeing had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters and figures marked thereon, eizplaining the mode-end use of my improvements.- v
. Figure 1 iso view. of a. cert-body, showing the tail-board of the same fastened or held in place by the improvements claimed. i v v i l Figure 2 shows the unfztstening, and mode of taking out of the tuil-boord, with snid imne My improvement consists in fostening'tlie toilboard in such a noonner that it can be e loosened and taken out, although there may be a great pressure from the load inside the can-the thecart-body is' tipped npbet any 'e-ngle needed for lumping or 'unloading the some.
By my improvement, also, zt-tail-boartl of tiny width is kept in place, simply by having some cients fastened veznents.
' ind readily even when I upon it, just inside of the rods-that hold it in, thereby preventing its becoming loose and coming out by any jolting of the cart when unloadedor, otherwise.
In figll, a. common cart-body is represented with a tail-board, A, held in place by a common rod, 13, and by iny improved rod 0, which is made of common round iron, and bent at rliil'erent angles, as shown, with a hendle, D, and fastened with a small iron pin, E.
This-fastening maybe by e spring-catch or shop instead, ii ehosen.
The angles in this rod, as shown at O and F, are about one end a half inch, passing zit the I? .in. into the sill of the cart, and at the top through the rail, and thronghn thin plate of iron fastened thereon, shown at L.
Fig. 2 shows the modeof unfztsteningnnd taking out the toil-hoard, which is by talking out the pin E, and bringing or turning the rod holi ronnd, as at G, which brings the rod outside of the end of the thihboarnl, thereby leaving it free to'be token out. The rod 13 should beset as far to the right as practicable, which. rill allow the other endofthe tail-boar fl the more easily to come out. 'lhc'cleuts H are to be put on when the tail-boarri is not wide enough to have-notches cut in the top of it, to come between the top rails of'the cart, as shown et-J in which case they are not needed.
What I elniin aud. desire to secure by Letters Patent, is- The bentjrml 0, provided with the honille, in combination with the pin for fastening, as shown, for the purpose herein described nnclset forth.
