IMPROVE!) Meenemen.
To yALL WHoM IT MAYCONCERN;
Be it Vknown that I, ANDREW J. DAVIS, of Hertford, in thefcountyof Van Brurenfend State of -lllichignnl have invented new and improved Mops; and I do herebydeclarc'thot the followingr is o full, clear, und exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the aljtto' make n-nd use the same, reference beinghnd to the accompanyingdrawings forming prt of this specification.
This invention relates ton new and improved inethod of constructing mop-frames, whereby facilities are ,eordedfor wringing the mop; and it consists in attaching the mopfto a. sliding frame, by' aholder, which is lrevolved by gearing and crank, for twisting or wringing the mop,v as will be hereinafter described.
:Figure lis a. longitudinal side view of the mop attached to therhelder, with aview of the geni'ing and crank,
.l showing,` the method of wringing.
Figure 2 isan edge view of thesame. Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding' ports.
.A represents-the frame, to which the mop -and the `handle nre ntteched. Bvisrthehmop, foi-ined 'ci' cloth, or
the usual fibrous or textile material.
'C is the handle,` attached in the usual manner.
-'l h e frameA is formed by bending n rod as indicated in the drawing',the mop being o ,ttched at one end,: `and the handle at the other.
The two sides ofthe frame A. A forium-nys o'r guides, upon which a. -frame is madeto slide. D is'the sliding frame.V i
E is a, crank-shzift, which hasnI gear-wheel, F upon it, and Gr is the holder for the upper end of the` mop,
which has also n gear-wheel, H, upon it, which engages with the Wheelrld.A
` The sliding frame D (with the shet and gear-Wheels) moves back and forth upon themop-freine A freely.
4 By turning the crank, it will be seen that the mop B will b e twisted or wru-ng`without touching it .with the hands. For this purpose thc sliding freine is drawn up, as seen'in'the draining.
rEhe construction and operation are so plainly shown lin the drawing thatfurther descriptionis not considered necessary. 'Y
Hoving described my invention, I claim as new, and desire to secure by Lettere Patent- 1. The sliding frame D, the shaft :ind gear-wheels E, F, and H, arranged substantially as shown end described, in combinationtherewith,` and with `the mop B and frame A, forlthe purposes set forth.
2. In combination with the above, I claim the holder G, constructed, arranged, and operating as described 4for the purpose set forth i The above specification' of my invention signed by me, this 14th dayof January, 1868.
