To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, CHARLES IV. KREBs, of
, Baltimore, in the county of Baltimore and side of the tube to control the pen, or nib, l5"
and extend it beyond and outside of the tube, or to withdraw it inside of the tube when not in use.
To enable others to make and use my invention I will proceed to describe its construction, and operation.
I take a suitable tube, marked A in the accompanying drawing, closed at one end, and tapered into a conical shape at the other, and forming a small open end through which the ink cannot flow. The tube A is divided into two Sections or pieces one being the part tapered or of conical shape,'C, the other being that marked B. The part B of the tube is provided on the inside near the 7,798, dated November 26, 1850.

The conical part of the tube marked C is fitted by a smooth joint into the part A and covers the pen when these parts are properly adjusted, and the screw worked the nib may be extended, or withdrawn into the tube. The pen or nib D is made tapering to lit the piece C and pass through the small end of it.
To use this pen fill the tube A with ink, it the screw D on the pen or nib into the screw E and join the piece C to B then turn the screw, and the pen may be extended out- 'side of the tube so as to be used to write.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent is- The pen nib made to project through the conical termination of the fountain substantially in the manner and for the purpose CHAS. WV. KREBS. lVitnesses IV. P. BROWN, HORACE LITTLE.
