WALL FOR BUILDINGS. APPLICATION FILED DEC. 4, 190a.
N0 MODEL.

UNITED STATES Patented October 11, 1904.
JOHN ALBERT FERGUSON OF DENVER, COLORADO.
WALL FOR BUILDINGS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent N0. 771,816, dated October 1 1, 1904.
Application filed December 4, 1903. Serial No. 183,841. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Be itknown that LJOHN ALBERT FERGUSON, a citizen of the United States, residing at Denver, in the county of Denver and State of U010- rado, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Walls for Buildings; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear,
and exact description of the invention, such as The objects of my invention are to provide a building-wall which will be solid and substantial, one that can be very easily constructed, also one that will prevent the penetration of moisture, as it is provided with air-chambers.
Referring to the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view of the block used in my wall. Fig. 2 is a view of a course of blocks. Fig. 3 is a perspective view of a section of wall constructed of my blocks.
1 refer more fully to the drawings by designating the main portion of the blocks with the letter A. This main portion is provided with angularly-disposed flanges or projections at each end which are designated by A and A A short extension A projects from the central portion of the blocks, the face width of which is preferably double' that of the face width of the ends of the flanges indicated by A and A which will be made manifest by consulting Fig. 2 of the drawings.
I construct my wall of two courses of the blocks as described, and shown in the drawings. The courses placed upon the first ones are so laid that they will break joints, as shown in Fig. 3 of the drawings. 7 This provision is of utility, as it provides a thoroughly effective bond for the wall. The blocks may be laid in any suitable mortar or cement and are preferably arranged with the terminal proj ections of the blocks on one side of the wall facing the intermediate extensions of the blocks on the opposite side of the wall, as shown.
I am aware that blocks of similar construction have already been patented; but blocks of the specific construction by means of which the bond is secured in the manner shown and described, by using blocks which are all constructed alike, are new.
What I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, is
1. A wall composed of a plurality of blocks each having angularly-disposed terminal projections and an intermediate extension of less length than said projections but of greater face width, said blocks being laid side by side and arranged in superposed courses with the terminal projections of the blocks on one side of the wall facing the intermediate extensions of the blocks on the opposite side of said wall.
2. Awall composed of a plurality of blocks each comprising a body portion having terminal projections arranged at right angles thereto and a centrally-disposed extension of less length than said projections but of greater face width, said blocks being laid side by side and arranged in superposed courses with the terminal projections of the blocks on one side of the wall facing the intermediate extensions of the blocks on the opposite side'of said wall.
3. The herein-described building-block comprising the body portion provided at each end with a laterally-extending web and between its ends with a centrally-disposed web, the end webs being longer than the centrally-disposed web, and the latter being thicker than the end webs, substantially as described.
In testimony whereof I hereunto aflix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
JOHN ALBERT FERGUSON.
