J. H. MOORE.
Apparatus for Moving Buildings.
No. 77,074. Patented April 21, 1869 JOHN H'. MOORE, OF'BINGH'AMTON, NEW YORK,
Letters Patent No. 77,074, dated April 21,- 1868.

, fitlgtfittanlt mantis in that hitters Eastern at making an at "flgt tame.-
TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN Be it'knoirn that-I, JOHN -H. MOORE, of Binghamton, in the county of Broome, and State of New York,
have invented a new and useful Improvement on Apparatus for Moving Buildings; and do hereby declare that the following is afull, clear, and exactdescription of the construction and operation oi the same, refer.-
ence being hadto the accompanying drawings, making a part of this specification, in Which- Figure 1 is a perspective view, representing the apparatus as ready for operation.
Figure 2 is aninverted view of one of the roller-frames detached, showing the arrangement of the rollers and frame. I I I v i V Figure 3 is an inverted view of the reach or sand-board, representing the manner of attaching the springs and rollers. t I V Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in each figure. V
The nature of my invention consists in providing the roller-frame with three rollers instead of two, as heretofore used, for the purpose of facilitating the operation of changing the diroct'ion,.the centre roller relieving in a measure the weight fromthose on either side,
It also consists in the arrangement of springs at various bearing points, for the purpose of obviating undue .Ijarrin'g of the building, and to keep the frames in position while passing over uneven ground.
I construct my roller-frames A A in a similar manner to those of my late patented improvement for the same purpose, making them wide enough to receive three rollers, B B 13, instead of two. For thepurposc of preventing the roller-frame from tipping-and to obviate the usual jarring of the building,'I attach a cross-piece, over the-end of each frame, bearing upon-heavy spiral springs E E, and for the same purpose I attach two elliptic springs FF, on the .under side of the reach or sand-board-G; to which springs I secure frictiom rollers H, which bear upon and work on the transverse piece II on the end of the frames A A. In order to more effectually equalize the weight upon the rollers, attach two transverse piecesJJ directly over and on a. line with the axis'ot' the rollers, the upper piece being'scparated from the 'loiver by'projecting bearings at each end, so that if the centre roller should be relieved from its portion of the weight, the pressure upon the pieces J J over the two outer rollers would not injure the frame. i
The advantages of this arrangement over my late patented improvements are, first, using three rollers abreast instead of two, for the purpose of increasing the bearing-surface, and facilitating the operation of changing the direction; second, the employment and arrangement of springs to obviate the jarring of'thc build ing, and to keep the rollenframes in position; third, this improvement permits the use of as many roller-frames as can be'placed under the building, obviating the liability of one frame'taking more weight than the'other.
The apparatus can be'manufactured cheaper than my late patented improvement, and with less liability of derangement.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The fraines AZA, having three trucks each, and constructed as described, with transverse pieces C, I, and Land springs E, all in combination with the cross-piece G,-resting on springs and rollers, substantially as described, and for the purpose set forth.
JOHN HQMOORE.
