GEORGE VVEHNER, OF JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA.
LAUNDRY-REGISTER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 764:,648, dated Ju y 12, 1904. Application filed July 10, 1903. Serial No. 165,032. (No model.)
To all whom, it lfi/Il/Z/ concern:
Be it known that I, GEORGE WEHNER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Jacksonville, in the county of .Duval and State of Florida, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Laundry-Registers.of which the following is a specification.
My present invention pertains to means for recording or registering articles of which it may be desired to retain an account.
In the form which is shown and described herein my invention is embodied in a laundryregister or a device for registering the num, ber and kind of garments or other articles which are to be laundered.
The object of my invention is to provide for the purpose mentioned a device which shall be simple, effective, durable, inexpensive, and wholly self-contained-that is to say, requir ing neither pencil, pen, nor other detached instrument to render it functionally effective at all times.
An embodiment of a form of my invention is shown in the drawings, in Which Figure 1 is an elevational view of a preferred form of a laundry-register, and Fig. 2 is a similar view of a modification thereof.
Reference characters are relatively alike throughout the drawings.
A table A, of suitable material and dimensions, is perforated, as at b, and notched, as at 0 0. A flexible member, which preferably is an elastic filament (Z, is attached to the table A, preferably in coils d, by alternately passing it-through a perforation b and engaging it in a notch 0. One or more perforate counters e are threaded upon the member (Z and preferably upon each coil (Z. The counters upon each coil may, if necessary, differ either in form. or color or in both form and color as they are designed to be shown in the drawings. Lines f j, which may comprise appellations or numerals, or both combined, may be suitably arranged and imprinted on one or both sides of the table a in such positions that parts of the flexible member (Z lie parallelly of each of said lines. The numerals may be so collocated that some of them may be used to designate simple numbers, while others may be used to represent pluralities of numbers. As shown in the drawings, certain numerals, referred to as l to 11, both inclusive, are intended to relate to simple numbers only, while certain other numbers, herein referred to as l, 2 3', are intended to relate to dozens, and the latter term may be imprinted in positions suitable to indicate said relation. Counters of one particular form or color are intended to be used only in combination with the numbers 1 to 11, and counters of the different form or color are intended to be used only in combination with the pluralitiesas, for instance, the dozens.
The operation and advantages of my invention will be readily understood and appreciated. If my invention be used as a laundryregister, a counter-e of one particular form or color will be moved along the flexible member (Z and positioned over a particular numeral, as from 1 to 11, which corresponds with the number of articles of the particular kind which may be indicated by the appellation which is imprinted upon the table a and which relates to the articles which it, the counter c, is intended to register. Should there be more than eleven articles of any one kind, a counter tof the different form or color will be moved, as before related, to a suitable position to indicate the number of dozens of said articles which are to be registered, and remaining parts of dozens thereof will be registered as first related. here both sides of the table are used as registers, one side may be used to register one kind of articles-as, for instance, womens garments-and the other side may be used to register another kind of articles as, for instance, mens garments or, if preferred, other suitable divisions of the table may be made for the purpose mentioned.
The elasticity of the flexible member (Z causes the latter to resiliently effect a contact of the counters c and table A, and thus retain said counters in position. Should the flexible member (Z be broken, the required number of perforate counters 6 may be threaded upon another flexible member, and the latter may be readily attached to the board a by coiling it, as hereinbefore related. As both sides of the register may be practically similar in general form and design, I have not deemed it necessary to show more than one of them.
I claim as new and as my invention- 1. A perforate table which has a plurality of notches formed in an edge thereof; lines comprising appellations and numerals which are imprinted on the table; a flexible member which is attached to the table and disposed parallelly of the printed lines by engagement alternately with a notch and with a perfora= tion; and a plurality of perforate counters which are mounted on the flexible member.
) 2. A perforate table which has a plurality of notches formed in an edge thereof; lines comprising appellations and numerals which are imprinted on the table; an elastic flexible member which is attachedto the table and disposed parallelly of the printed lines by engagement alternately with a notch and with a perforation; and a plurality of perforate counters which are mounted on the flexible member.
3. A perforate table which has a plurality of notches formed in an edge thereof; lines comprising appellations and numerals which are imprinted on the table; a flexible member which is attached to and disposed in coils on the table and disposed parallelly of the printed lines by engagement alternately with a notch and with a perforation; and a plurality of perforate counters which are mounted on the flexible member.
4. A perforate table which has a plurality of notches formed in an edge thereof; lines comprising appellations and numerals which are imprinted on the table; an elastic flexible member which is attached to and disposed in coils on the table and disposed parallelly of the printed lines by engagement alternately with a notch and with a perforation; and a plurality of perforate counters which are mounted on the flexible member.
5. A perforate table which has a plurality of notches formed in an edge thereof; lines comprising appellations and numerals which are imprinted on the table; a flexible member which is attached to the table, parts of said member being disposed parallelly of a printed line by an engagement alternately with a notch and with arperforation; a plurality of perforate counters which are alike in form and color and which are respectively mounted on the. several parts of the flexible member; and a second plurality of perforate counters which are alike in form and color and which are respectively mounted on the several parts of the flexible member, the color or form of said counters being diflerent from that of the firstmentioned counters.
6. A perforate table which has a plurality reams of notches formed in an edge thereof; lines comprising appellations and numerals which are imprinted on the table; an elastic flexible member which is attached to the table, parts of said member being disposed parallelly of a printed line by an engagement alternately with a notch and with a perforation; a plurality of perforate counters which are alike in form and color and which are respectively mounted on the several parts of the flexible member; and a second plurality of perforate counters which are alike in form and color and which are respectively mounted on the several parts of the flexible member, the color or form of said counters being different from that of the first-mentioned counters.
7 A perforate table which has a plurality of notches formed in an edge thereof; lines comprising appellations and numerals which are imprinted on the table; a flexible member which is attached to and disposed in coils on the table, parts of said member being disposed parallelly of a printed line by an engagement alternately with a notch and with a perforation; a plurality of perforate counters which are alike in form and color and which are re' spectively mounted on the several parts of the flexible member; and a second plurality of perforate counters which are alike in form and color and which are respectively mounted on the several parts of the flexible member, the
' color or form of said counters being different from that of the first-mentioned counters.
8. A perforate table which has a plurality of notches formed in an edge thereof; lines comprising appellations and numerals which are imprinted on the table; an elastic flexible member which is attached to and disposed in coils on the table, parts of said member being disposed parallelly of a printed line by an en 'gagement alternately with a notch and with a perforation; a plurality of perforate counters which are alike in form and color and which are respectively mounted on the several parts of the flexible member; and a second plurality of perforate counters which are alike in form and color and which are respectively mounted on the several parts of the flexible member, the color or form of said counters being different from that of the first-mentioned counters.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this application in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
GEORGE WEHNER.
