Description

PATENTED JUNE 14, 1904.
'0. J. FOOKS; GASEMENT STAY FOR WINDOWS.
mnmm nun; SEPT. 11, 1903.
N0 MODEL.
Patented June 14. 1904.
CHARLES JOB FOOKS; OF EALING, ENGLAND.
CASEMENT-STAY FOR WINDOWS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent N0. 762,296, dated. June 14, 1904. Application filed September 11, 1903- Serial No. 172,837. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CHARLES J OB FooKs, a subject of the King of Great Britain, residing at 31 VVarwiok road, Ealing, in the county of Middlesex, England, have invented new and useful Improvements in Casement-Stays for Windows, of which the following is a specifi-v cation.
My invention relates to improvements in casement-stays for windows. I attain these objects by the mechanism illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a front elevation of casementstay fitted to the window and window-frame. Fig. 2 is a plan of Fig. 1.
This invention is constructed with a perforated fiat iron stay a, rounded at one end 6, with a thumb-piece to form the handle 0, and at the other end is a sunk well (Z, cut in the swell (Z with slits 6, through which a center pin f is passed. This said pin is riveted to the swell (Z and operates in two slots 9 in two lugs it, cast on a perforated back plate 2'. The back plate 1/ is provided with countersunk screwholes for fixing the same to a window 1' mullion sash or frame.
A running perforated block is is passed over the stay a, the said block being provided with a screwed set-pin Z. The perforated block is loosely riveted to a back plate m. This said back plate is provided with countersunk screwholes for fixing the plate to a window-sill n or frame and the like. Thus the stay connects the window to the window-frame and is fixed in any position by means of the set-screw before described.
The end of the stay has the corners removed or is rounded off as required and slides in a slot out in the block 0, which is screwed to the frame. V
A plate 1), screwed to the window 1', is turned up at right angles and is provided with a slot through which the stay a passes from left to right in order to open the window when it is set by means of the set-pin Z in one of the holes or countersinks .1.
A center or guide pin 8 is fixed to the top lug h, with the lower end of the pin .9 passing into a Well d, cut in the top of the swell (Z to act as a stop against the slit 0.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
In easement-stays for windows, the combination of the flat stay a end 6 thumb-piece c sunk well cl swell clslits a center pin f slots g lugs h block is set-screw Z back plate m block 0 plate slot 9 holes or countersinks r and center or guide pin s. substantially as herein described and according to the accompanying drawings.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
CHARLES JOB FOOKS.
