ATTACHMENT FOR BARBERS CHAIRS- SPEGIFIGATION forming part of Letters P atent No. 761,232, dated May 31, 1904. Application filed February 11, 1904. 7 Serial No. 193,190. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, AUsBIN D. KANDLE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Bridgeton, in the county of Cumberland and State of New Jersey, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Attachments for Barbers Chairs, of which the following is a specification.
This invention has relation to attachments for barberschairs; and it consists of providing means whereby the head-rest of a barbers chair is protected from being soiled by the head of the occupant and at the same time the barber is supplied with pieces of paper on which to wipe lather off of his razor, all as will be hereinafter more fully explained, and particularly pointed out in the appended claim.
The-annexed drawings, to which reference is made, fully illustrate m invention, in which Figure 1 represents a side view of the upper portion of a barbers chairand head-rest having my invention applied thereto. Fig. 2 is a transverse sectional view of v the cylintwin rollers with their knife, and Fig. 6 is a transverse sectional View of the same.
Referring by letter to the accompanying drawings, A designates an ordinary barbers chair, and B the head-rest therefor, to which my device is attached.
C represents a cylinder which is closed at one end a and open at the opposite end, having a cap or cover 6, provided with a short inwardly extension or tube 0, that enters the tubular end CZ of a central tube 6, secured to the closed end a. This cylinder is provided with brackets ff, by which said cylinder is secured to theunder side of the head-rest, and the same is provided with a longitudinal slot through which-the paper it is drawn from the cylinder. This paper, being in a roll and placedupon the central tube within the cylinder, is paid out over the face of the headrest and carried over the top thereof to a holder and cutter secured to the head-rest and in rear thereof. This combined holder and cutter consists of a bar 2', having its opposite ends bent at right angles to the body portion, as at f, and provided with openings or bearings It to receive the bearing-pins at each of the twin rubber rollers H, and a cutter or knife m, which is secured at its oppositebent ends a n to the ends of the bar c. It will be observed that the operator in using the paper from the cylinder draws the end thereof through the slot, carrying it over the face of the head-rest, over the top, and passing the extreme end down and between the twin rubber rollers, and when it is desired to clean the razor of lather the operator simply grasps the end of the paper and draws sufficient of the paper out, after which the paper is severed by the knife. It will be further observed that as the paper is cut off the cylinder is paying it out over the face of the headrest, thus providing clean paper for each customer, and a device as herein described is simple in operation, durable, and at the same time inexpensive.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
A cylinder having a slot therein, a central tube in said cylinder, and integral therewith, a removable cap provided with asmaller central tube telescoping within the central tube of the cylinder, a roll of paper carried by said tubes, said cylinder being secured to the under side of the lower portion of the head-rest by means of brackets, aholder secured to the upper portion of the head-rest in rear thereof, twin rollers secured in bearings in said holder, and a knife secured to the bent ends of the holder, whereby the paper when it is passed from the cylinder to, and between the twin rollers is adapted to be cut off, substantially as described and for the purposes set forth.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in presence of two witnesses.
AUSBIN D. KANDLE. Witnesses:
