COMBINATION TISSUE HOLDER AND DISPOSAL RECEPTACLE Filed Jan. 51, 1944 1 1d 10 1% 1 lb INVENTQR.
Elmer 6 6m BY Attorng Patented Feb. 11, 1947 GUMBKNATION TISSUE HOLDER AND DISE OSAL RECEPTACLE 2 Claims.
I 1 My invention relates to a combination tissue holder and disposal receptacle,- more particularly for use by people with colds or the like and the objects of my invention are:
First, to provide a holder for holding the tissue n serrated roll form and also provides a means or receiving the soiled or used tissue;
Second, to provide a, device of this class which may be readily carried in the pocket or carrying bag of the user for use when desired;
Third, to provide a device of this class upon which it is easy to mount a roll of tissue;
Fourth, to provide a device of this class that is so constructed that it is easy to remove the soiled tissue from the same when desired;
Fifth, to provide a device of this class which provides a protective means for the outer layer of tissue on the support as well as the edges of the roll;
Sixth, to provide a device of thi class with means to prevent the soiled or used tissues from coming out of the holder except when removal of the tissues i desired; and
Seventh, to provide a combination tissue holder and disposal receptacle of this class which is very simple and economical of construction, easy to operate and efficient in its action.
With these and other objects in view as will appear hereinafter, my invention consists of cernovel features of construction,combination a angernent of parts and portions as will be 11.. en fter described in detail and particularly set forth in the appended claim-s, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, and to the characters of reference thereon, which form a part of this application in which:
Figure 1 is a longitudinal sectional View taken from line iI of Fig. 2 of my combination tissue holder and disposal receptacle showing the lid member partially removed therefrom before the tissue is positioned thereon; Fig. 2 is an end view thereof taken from the soiled tissue receiving end; 3 is a longitudinal sectional view taken from line 3-3 of Fig. 4 with the tissue mounted thereon and the lid closed and showing some used tissue positioned, therein; and Fig. 4 is a transverse sectional view taken from the line 1-4 of Fig. 3.
Similar characters of reference refer to similar parts and portions throughout the several views of the drawing:
ihe body member l and lid member 2 constitute the principal parts of my combination tissue holder and disposal receptacle.
The body member I includes a hollow cylindrical member I which is preferably substantially rectangular in cross section as shown. It is open at one end la. At its opposite end it is provided with. an inwardly extending flange portion lb which provides a deflector for directing the used tissue when placing the same in the central opening to therein, which opening is oval shaped, as shown best in Fig. 2. Extending outwardly from the main body portion I is an extending flange lid which conform to the shape of the body I and at the outer edge of this flange Ibis a backwardly extending flange le which extends backwardly over the tissue when positioned on the holder I and forms a support and protection for the tissue and holds the loose end in position.
Arranged to be positioned in the open end Ia of the body member I is a lid member 2 which is also hollow and conforms in shape to the body member I and is arranged to fit into the end thereof, as shown best in Fig. 3 of the drawing. It is provided with a closed end portion 2a with an extended flange portion 2b shaped to conform to the flange portion Id 0n the body member I, at the outer edge of which is provided a backwardly extending flange 20 which conforms to the shape of the flange Ie and of substantially the same size, preferably in rectangular form. It will be here noted that these flanges Ie and 2c may extend over the body portion when the lid is in position any distance desired to provide protection for the tissue and easy removal of the lid. it will be here noted that the lid 2 provides a lid for the receptacle for removing the used tissues and also for supporting and protecting the unused tissue and a simple means to arrange for positioning the tissue on the body I. It will also be noted that it is preferred to make the body member i and lid 2 of material of suflicient rigidity to substantially hold its form so that it will not be distorted or crushed during ordinary use.
Though I have shown and described a particular construction, combination and arrangement of parts and portions and specified certain preferred construction, I do not wish to be limited to this particular construction, combination and arrangement, but desire to include in the scope of my invention the construction, combination and arrangement substantially as set forth in the appended claims.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim a new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1; In a combination tissue holder and disposal receptacle of the class described, a hollow holder member arranged to receive a tissue roll around its outer side and provided with an opening at one end arranged for removal of used tissue, a conforming shaped lid member arranged to fit in one end thereof for closing said end, and an inwardly converging walled flange with a central opening at the opposite end of said holder member arranged to receive used tissue, said holder and lid provided with extended flanges at their opposite ends when assembled, with flanges extending toward each other from their periphery.
4 flanges extending toward each other from their periphery.
