PATENT OFFICE.
FRANK ANSLEY, OF SPOKANE, WASHINGTON.
SPlNNING-TO P.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 758,291, dated April 26, 1904.
Application filed August 24, 1903. Serial No. 170,547. (N0 ode To all whom it may concern;
Be it known that I, FRANK ANsLnY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Spokane, in the county of Spokane and State of VVashington, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Spinning-Tops; and I do declare the following to be afull, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being bad to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in spinning-tops, and especially in the provision of a wheel having a series of blades about its circumference positioned at angles to the face of the wheel, said wheel having a shaft one end of which is recessed and adapted to receive the point of a pivotal pin, thereby reducing the friction to a miniviews, in which Figure 1 is a perspective view of my improved top, and Fig. 2 is a longitudinal sec-.
tional View through the frame supporting the shaft and showing the shape of the blades on the rotary wheel.
Reference now being had to the details 0 the drawings by letter, A designates the base portion of a frame having a yoke B, which may be of any desired shape, and in the drawings is shown in rectangular outline, and rising from the base adjacent to its center is a pivot-pin D, and E designates a shaft, the
lower end of which is recessed and adapted to receive said pivot-pin, while the other end of the shaft is pointed and has a bearing in an aperture or indentation in the horizontallydisposed portion of said yoke. H designates awheel which is fixed to said shaft and has a series of blades H about its circumference which are bent at angles to the face of the .wheel and preferably of the shape shown in Fig. 2 of the drawings, in which positions they are adapted to receive the impact of the blast of air directed against the same through a tube or nozzle K. Said nozzle K is mounted in a socket N, mounted upon one of the upright portions. of said yoke, and is so posiupon a pin carried by a framework, it is my purpose to spin the top upon the point of a pin or needle without any reference to the frame Whatever.
While I have shown a particular construction of top embodying the features of my invention, it will be understood that I may make alterations in the detailed construction of the same, if desired, without departing from the spirit of the invention.
Having thus fully described my invention, What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
A spinning-top comprising a base, a rectangular-outlined frame having angled ends fastened to the upper surface of said base, a pintle rising centrally from the base and intermediate the ends of said frame, a shaft having a winged wheel rotating therewith, one end of said shaft having a bearing upon said pintle at a slight distance above said base, the upper end of the shaft tapering and having a bearing in an indenture in the upper horizontally-disposed portion of the frame, an eye having a shank portion secured to the upright FRANK ANSLEY.
