TO ALL WHOM IT MAY'GONCERN:
Be it known that I, WILLIAM A. ROBINSON,0f the city of Grand Rapids, in the county of Kent, and State of Michigan, have invented a new and improved Mop-Head and I hereby declare that the following is a full and exact'description of-said invention, reference being bad .to the attached drawings, making a part of this I specification.
Said invention, when constructed of iron, consists of a socket, a, to receive the handle, a transverse head," b, two wire bows, 'c a, two arms 01 d, and two links e e. ,There is a thickly-set row of pointed teeth,f, in the centre of the head 1), extending the whole length of the head."- There is a tenon-like projection,- g, on each end of the head, which prevents the bows c a from passing back and i'orth over the head. The arms d d are attached'to the opposite end of the socket from the head, and extend on a. line parallel with the head, and are supported by braces h k, resting on the head. Inj the outer end of the arms d d there may be a mortise, it, as shown in the drawings, or slots,--to receive the endof the bows 'c c. The links e e slide on the bows c c, from the mortise or slots to the end of the head, and when brought back, the blows a 0 may be opened to receive the mopcloth, which being passed over the head and through the bows, will ,be brought on to the teethfiand fastened there by sliding the links e e down towards the end ol' the head. The teethfserveto prevent the cloth from coming out, and also from coming together during the process of wringing. I I
The said invention may also be constructed of ,wood and wire, without the cast head, in which case the head will be madeofditb'od. The teeth may be made of wire, andginserted in the centre of the head like spurs,
a short distance from'each other, or their equivalents. A brace, made of wire, may be inser.ted in each end of the head, and extended any desirable distance upward, when it will be coiled once and a halfround, forming an opening corresponding with the mortise z' 2'. above described, toreceive 'und hold the ends of the bows c c,
and from thence it will be turned toward, extended to, and inserted in the handle. The liukse e are used on the bows of this style of L'nop-he'adin the same manner and for the same purpose as on the iron head above described. v 5
What I claimas my invention, and desire to'secure by Letters Patent, is-- 1. The combination of the arms 01 d, the socket ayand teethf, andthe mode thus provided'for attaching and holding the bowec a, substantially as and for the purpose. described. I
2. The arrangement and combination of the socket a, head b, bows c c, braces 7th, with the arms (2 d, links e e, and teethf, substantially as and for the purpose intended. I
