IMPROVEMENT IN COMBINEDVSWEAT-BAND FASTENER AND SIZE-MARK FOR HATS.
Specification forming part of LettersPatent No. 75,685, dated March 17, 1868.
To all whom 'it may concern:
Be it known that we, THOMAS A. LAW- RENOE and JOHN H. MUREEY, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved `Ornamental Size-Mark and Sweat-Band Fastener for Hats; and 'we do hereby declare that the following isa full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled 'in the art to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification, in which- Figure l represents a perspective view of our invention. Fig. 2 is aside view of the same.

This invention relates toa new device for connecting the ends of hat sweat-bands, and for the same time marking the size of thehat.
- The invention consists-in the use of an ornamental or other plate, -upon which the hat- `number is stamped, said plate having two pointed projections, by means of which it can be fastened to the two ends ofthe sweat-band,
thereby uniting the same. The object of the invent-ion is to provide a device in which the Ordinary tie, by means projections, a a, which can be bent and passed through the ends of lthe sweat-bandas shown in Fig. l, so as to fasten the plate to the sweat-band, and to unite the ends of the latter. Thus a combined sweat-band fastener and size-mark for hats is produced.
We claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- As an improved article of manufacture, a' i hatband fastener, A, provided with pointed projections a a, and having the size of the hat stamped upon it, as described.
