' Be it known that I, vCHARLES H. SPENCER, Y a citizen of the United States, residing at Kendall, in the county of Kearny and State vof Kansas, havel invented new and useful'Im- -proven1ents in Gate-Fasteners, of vwhich the following is aspecification.

My invention relates to new and useful improvements. in gates for wire fences; and its object is to provide a simple, and durable device for securing the gate in closed position.

The object of my invention-is to provide a lit has been customary to use loops .for holding the vend bar 'of the gate tothe fence-post, the gatefbar being secured, in place byl first drawing it toward the gate-post and then placsecuring device which will dispense with the objectionable method of pulling directly upon the gate to draw it near enough to the fencepost to permit the loop to bearranged thereon.

My invention consists of'a strap which is secured to the gate-post and has' a lever pivoted toit. A loop is connected to this lever, and to fasten the ward,so.asto the gate-bar, the opposite direction,

bring the loop into position over .and then-said lever is swung in thereby drawing the 'loop' toward the gate-post and securely fastening the gate in position.

The invention also consistsin the further novel construction and combination of parte hereinafter more fully described and, claimed, 1nd illustrated in the accompanying drawing, which is a perspective view of a gate having my improved securing means applied thereto.
