PATENT OFFICE.
GEORGE G. PARSONS, OF MADERA, CALIFORNIA. I
NECKTlE-BAND HOLDER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 754,007, dated March 8, 1904. Application filed March 7, 1903. Serial No. 146,723. (No model.)
.To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, GEORGE G. PARSONS, a citizen of the United States, residing at Madera, in the county of Madera and State of California, have invented new and useful Improvements in Necktie-Band Holders, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to new and useful improvements in fastening devices whereby a tie may be retained in position upon a collar and prevented from slipping thereunder.
The object of the invention is to provide a simple and inexpensive device of this character which may be readily attached to a tie and can be slipped upon and clamp a collar and hold said tie securely in position thereon.
The invention consists in the construction and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter described, and particularly pointed out in the claim.
In the accompanying drawings, Figurel is a perspective view showing my improved fastening device in use. Fig. 2 shows the same upon another form of collar, and Fig. 3 is a detail view of the fastening device.
In carrying out the construction of my invention I take a single piece of metal and bend the same centrally in curved form, as shown in the drawings by the numeral 1. By means of this bend I provide side arms 2, and by bending said arms centrally or at their middle portions, as shown at 2, into U-shaped forms I produce vertical prongs 2 which are arranged parallel with and between said side arms, said prongs being of a length equal to the length of said side arms, and by this construction of prongs an equal pressure is had on opposite sides of the collar when the fastening is applied thereto and to the necktie. To fasten the tie in position, the prongs 2" are bent forward or laterally from the side arms and inserted through the tie at a suitable point therein. The collar is then inserted between the side arms 2 and the prongs 2 and will not only be clamped therebetween, but will also clamp the tie 3 firmly upon the prongs 2".
If desired, bands 4 may be secured to the inner faces of turn-down collars, so as to permit the tie to be more securely fastened to the collar and thereby assist the fastener, above described, in holding the tie in position.
It will be seen that the device is extremely simple and inexpensive in construction and is formed in a single piece of metal.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new is A necktie-band holder comprising a single piece of metal having a central curved bend to provide vertical side arms of equal lengths, said side arms being bent at their central or middle portions into U-shaped forms to produce vertical prongs which are arranged parallel with and between the side arms, and said prongs being constructed to extend the lengths of said arms, substantially as specified.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
GEORGE G. PARSONS.
