JOSEPH SCHNETTLER, OF -ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI.
SCREEN-DOOR FRAME.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 753,637, dated March 1, 1904. Application filed July I3, 1908. Elerial No. 165,269- (No model.)
To all whom it may concern;-
Be it known that I, J OSEPH SCHNETTLER, a citizen of the United States, residing at St. Louis, State of Missouri, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Screen-Door Frames, of which the following is a specification containing a full, clear, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part hereof.
My invention relates to improvements in screen-door frames, and has for its object to provide a frame adapted to carry a screen-door and to be removably fastened within a doorcasing and which shall be readily adjustable to any desired height or width of door-casing.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is a front view of a door-casing for a double door, showing my improved screen-door frame in place of one of the door parts. Fig. 2 is a transverse sectional view of the same, taken on the line 2 2 in Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is a transverse sectional View taken along the line 3 3 in Fig. 1. Fig. 4 is an enlarged perspective view of the upper portion of my screen-door and frame therefor.
My screen-door frame consists of the vertical side member 1 and horizontal top member 2. This frame may be made of any desired material, and the members 1 and 2 are adapted to fit, respectively, within the length and width of 'a door-casing. The screen-door 3is mounted within the frame by means of hinges 4, which are affixed to the vertical side member 1 and to the screen-door 3 in any usual manner. The frame and screen-door are then placed in position within the door-casing and held therein by means of buttons 5, which buttons 5 are attached to the door-casing and in the form shown to the remaining door part.
' By means of my invention the screen-doorframe and its attached screen-door may be readily removed from the door-casing at any time for purposes of storage or repair by revolving the buttons 5.' In this manner I have overcome the injury to the door-casing which results from the repeated removal of hinges. I have also provided a frame which is readily adjustable in width by shortening the horizontal top member 2 or the vertical side, member 1, or both.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to have secured to me by the grant of Letters Patent, is
A device of the class named, comprising a door-casing, a screen-door frame consisting of a two-sided frame composed of a vertical side member and horizontal top member, the vertical side member being adapted to have a screen door hinged thereto, and buttons mounted upon the door-casing to removably secure the two-sided frame in place therein, substantially as described.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in presence of two subscribing witnesses.
