NECK-YOKE STRAP- SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 749,166, a ed January 12, 1904.

My invention has relation to improvements in neck-yoke straps; and it consists in the novel construction of strap more fully set forth in the specification and pointed out in the claims.

In the drawings, Figure 1 is a plan view of one end of a neck-yoke and breast-strap, showing my invention applied thereto. Fig. 2 is a section on line 2 2 of Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is a plan showing my device coupled to a draftcollar. Fig. 4 is a section on line 4 4 of Fig. 3. Fig. 5 is a plan of the neck-yoke strap. Fig. 6 is an edge view thereof. Fig. 7 is an end view of Fig. 5, one-half being broken away. Fig. 8 is a sectional detail on line 8 8 of Fig. 5, and Fig. 9 is a sectional detail on line 9 9 of Fig. 5.

The object of my invention is to interpose an elastic strap between the neck-yoke bar and the draft-collar or breast-strap, so that the jars incident to the vibrations of the bar may be reduced to a minimum.

In detail the invention may be described as follows:

Referring to the drawings, P represents the wagon-pole, and N the neck-yoke bar, as usual.

B represents the breast-strap, and C the draft-collar. My invention is applicable to either, as shown more particularly in Figs. 1 and 3. It consists of a pair of resilient'diverging arms 1 1, having terminal open resilient coils 2 2, the free ends of the coils being connected to the inner ends of the couplingrods 3 3, said rods passing through elongated slots 4, formed in the arms, and having terminal snap-hooks 5, which may be coupled directly tothe breast-strap B of the animal, Fig. 1, or to the collar C, Fig. 3, the elongated slots permitting the rods to assume the necessary divergence or angle to effect either connection. The bases of the rods 3 are screwthreaded, the nut 6 serving to adjust the tension of the coils as well as to determine the degree of projection of the rods beyond the coils. Adjacent to the base of the arms 1 1 is a transverse rib 7, through which and through the base projects a stem 8, the length of which beyond the arms can be regulated by a pin 9, passed through the holes 10, the pin being confined in the space between the base of the arms 1 and the rib 7. The outer end of the stem 8 terminates in a snap-hook 5.

It is apparent from the foregoing that the jar upon either the breast-strap or collar incidental to the vibration of the neck-yoke bar will be reduced to a minimum with my invention applied as shown.

Having described my invention, what I claim is N 1. A neck-yoke strap comprising a pair of resilient diverging arms, terminal open coils for the same, coupling-rods passing through the arms and having their inner ends secured to the free ends of the coils, and a stem at the base of the arms, substantially as set forth.

2. A neck-yoke strap comprising a pair of resilient diverging arms, terminal'open coils for the same, coupling-rods having their inner ends secured to the free ends of the coils,

the arms being provided with elongated slots for the free passage therethrough of the said coupling-rods, means for adjusting the tension of the coils, a stem projecting from the base of the arms, means for adjusting the length of said stem beyond the base of the arms, and means carried by the coupling rods and stem for respectively securing the same to the breast of the animal and to the neck-yoke bar, substantially as set forth.
